What others have said is true. If you don’t know what you are wanting to provide then don’t spend the money. there are far to many people out there who thought that purchasing gear was all they needed to do. those same people now have no work and a lot of debt. buisness are all about finding a need and then filling it. What do you do now? what experience do you have?
Heck 10k isn’t very much money to get real stuff. I spent 20k on color correction alone.

November 16, 2011 at 10:43 pm in reply to: MC 6 + Black Magic Decklink = a thing of beautyI second your comment i was super please with having it work so well with my BM Multibridge. So simple compared to even FCP7 no more needing to make sure the NLE is set to the right output Avid does it for me. I think that.

Preliminary testing it works just fine on Snow Leopard, haven’t had any crashes yet. Works perfectly with our Black Magic Multibridge and I didn’t have to more any set up other than install the update from BM. Just started to do a few simple jobs and I’m really like it. We are still beginners when it comes to avid, but i feel quite comfortable in doing basic editing. This feels a lot better than FCPx did the first day we started playing with it. So i am happy with our choice to move NLEs

November 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Looking of a Imag Venue to come and look at in west costNothing Scheduled, Just wanting to Explore. The World of Imag is quite a small niche, especially when it comes to venues that cater to only doing One-off Shows. I am Interested in how they shoot shows they have never seen and stuff like that. (Not to concered with set up and equipment). One-offs is what i do here and i figure there must be others out there that do this too.
Again Ideally i am looking for a Venues that brings in Music Concerts (all genras) which has their own Imag team and shoots a show to help augment the concert eviorment.

Since the guys went to work Adobe they are now offering their software translators for free. i haven’t tried any of it yet but its worth a look.

[tony west] “Mike, I was wondering what you thought about the synchronized clip feature in FCP X that syncs clips through sound waves.
This was one of the features that made me take a look a X in the first place. Very fast and easy.
Have you used it and what are your thoughts on it?”
I personally haven’t but a colleauge of my has, extensivly. From what he tells me he has varying degrees of sucess. i think at this point he still prefers plural eyes. i could be wrong i’ll see if i can’t get him on here.

[Craig Seeman] “I guess you’d want more detail of course. It is interesting how they’l mention some things and not others”
He actually mentioned this. he was saying that they are working on things that they haven’t annouced that they will release with the update. he used roles as a example.
[Craig Seeman] “An odd thought pops into my head at the moment dealing with Apple communication. I can’t help but think it’s sort of like working with a high functioning autistic. It’s odd. You may not get eye contact. Their may be repetition. They are listening and they are communicating though even if they don’t look at you in the eye.”
I actually like this thought. having a Autistic nephew myself I can see this.
