Sorry…
Final Cut 5.03_ Decklink 4.8 Drivers ….Photo Jpeg 720×486 OS X TIGER (latest minus the Macworld update) on a G5 1.8 DUAL PCI-X tower.
it’s a DECKLINK PRO card as well.
The footage was captured on an old KONA 1 card with blackmagic drivers over a year ago at another shop. I just bought the DECKLINK PRO for home studio and noticed there was no PHOTO JPEG OUTPUT SETTING anymore.

Also…
Just make sure you convert your audio cd to 48 (like your timeline) and don’t leave cd audio at 44.1.

It may appear after making a frame grab and looking in photoshop…that they used LABELS but coincidentally the name of the clip and the clip/box size work out to look mostly cover.
On review I can see a fringe of orginal green audio color….BUT….perhaps NOT.
Anyway… we could really use this feature above and beyond the simple labels in FCP now.

Yeah… I missed the meeting so on the DVD they don’t show the Jarhead footage examples.
But there it is…. Entirely color coded tracks and I kept saying ” Somebody ask him” but it never happened.
I’m so disappointed in you guys 🙂

Who’s your protools guy?
Can they try it again?
Becasue you say the pitch is faster…that tells me it wasn’t recorded at the right rate…. I still feel that it was recorded 44.1 but stamped 48.
Try going back to protools have them bring in one track as 44.1 then export it as 48.

Yeah… I think you started your project without thinking things through with tests.
First…sounds like you’re audio was recorded to DAT at 44.1 and speed up to 48 in Protools. 44.1 samples instructed to be a sample rate of 48 without actually converting makes the audio play faster.
Probably the first mistake is there.
Next, when you do get your audio correct at 48 and bring into FCP, you may still have to speed change to 99.9 % like you do with film. See… the panasonic records 23.98 not 24 fps with pulldown which means 29.97 and not 30fps. Your audio is most likely 30fps without pulldown if you recorded straight 48 (or 44.1)
But I say this and I don’t know what equipment you used or if you just plugged in a portadat because you read it was what to do and then recorded.
You’re not alone….people do this all the time.

November 19, 2005 at 6:42 pm in reply to: Basic Problem in FCP for Experienced AVID/M100 Editor (Help)Your problem has nothing to do with FCP….it’s actually video in general.
You must realize as any editor that video is FIELD BASED and two field equal a FRAME.
Make a freeze frame and it uses two fields…if the video is moving you will notice a flicker between the two fields.
SO……Just use the VIDEO FILTERS/VIDEO/DEINTERLACE filter on your stills in the timeline to choose one field/blended version of your still.
ALso….stop simply watching your editing on the computer monitor and hook FCP up to an actual NTSC monitor to see the whole picture. You’ll have less surprises in the end.
