Yes, it probably needs it. I have another problem with this part of the guidelines:
After this is done, it’s time to make the buttons go to the specific scenes.
Double-click “2: Christmas Play 2008” in the tree menu on the left side.
Switch to the “Timeline” view.
You should see the entire timeline with all the markers you placed in Vegas.
Click the marker that denotes the beginning of scene 2 and press the ‘O’ (for Out) key on the keyboard.
The In point for the first scene is automatically the beginning of the video.
Only the first scene should now be highlighted.
Double-click “3: Christmas Play 2008”.
Click the 2nd marker (the start of scene 2, press the ‘I’ (In) button.
Click the 3rd marker and press the ‘O’ button.
Only the second scene should be highlighted.
Repeat this procedure for all your scenes.I think I got the procedure, but the markers head way right as I go. Confusing to say the very least. The I (in) markers are right where they need to be when I double click the scene in the tree. I hit the O and they move down the timeline. The numbers don’t match the marks. Is this supposed to happen.
Here is an example of the project. The marker is on the 9 in point Marker (NUM) 10 is gone. There are 17 scenes counting the start. I did not place a marker at the start, but one is there???

Thanks Mike. I’ll look for that media at the box stores. I just went and rendered the project reducing the numbers with the zeros. It rendered the first pass and then about a 1/4 of the way into the second pass the program stopped working. I’ll try again. Aggravating or is frustration a better word?

Thanks for being there, Mike and thanks for the link. Should those numbers be entered as you wrote them or as 8,000,000, etc., etc.? I will look around for the media you suggest. I never saw those brands anywhere here.
Thanks again.

I see my mistake here, Mike. I have to render video and audio separate of each other. That makes sense. The bitrate calculation is confusing the issue for me also. The template has it coming in at 9,5000,000. Thought I saw someplace where it said not to go over 8,000,000. I appreciate your patience.

Mike, I am a little lost with the bitrate calculation for a 1 hour 58 minute project. I can’t find where to set the audio as well. Don’t see anything you wrote of:
For the audio, use the default AC-3 template with the following changes:
Encode set to AC3;
Click on custom tab;
Dialog normalization: -31 dB;
Dynamic range compression: None;
On the first tab set diag. norm to “-31”;
On the last tab marked preprocessing;
Set the Line Mode & RF mode profiles to “None”;
Now save this as a preset using the method described above. -
No worries there, Mike! I respect your abilities and willingness to help here. How can’t I trust that? Thanks again. I’ll let you know how I do.

Mike, Is there a reason I am reading the same thing twice on the thread link you provided? I think you may have repeated a few paragraphs in the post. It is quite the read. Just want to be clear i don’t need to do those steps twice.
Thanks

Thanks Mike! I’ll try to absorb all of that and put it to practice.
I have other issues here that the preset may help with. I have picked up a ton of noise that was not so noticeable in the renders I used. Is there a program that could help eliminate some of that. Things look a whole lot different than what I was editing.
Thanks again

do you have multiple scenes/chapters and it doesn’t go to the next one?
That is exactly it, Mike. I have 14 scenes/chapters and they are not continuous after play. I suspect a setting in the end events. I need to read up on this stuff. This whole project needs to be reworked.

Thanks Joe, I got it. There was no reset to none to pick with that effect that I saw. Starting with the first frame and hitting it right worked. It was a little tricky getting the effect. Touchy to say the least. Was getting everything that had a little shine to it acting up. I’ll put this one in the solved file.
I will put John’s solution to the test to see if that would work any easier. Will still have to play with the presets. Thanks again. It turned out pretty cool!
