Good tip. I wouldn’t have thought of that. Thanks

A bootable firewire drive. Sounds cool. What is it?

I can make the guess that its a drive that I can boot from, but can you give me specifics as to how to create one and how to access it if my normal HD has a stroke.

As for the don’t up grade during a project. One of the projects I am wrapping up needs to go in to DVD studio pro. Unfortunately I don’t have except for the one that is part of FCS.

Can I just load DVD-SP and then up grade the rest later? The documentation that came with FCS seems to want me install everything at once.

Thanks so much for your help.

Try doing one clip at a time. It may be that you have a time code change from one shot to another on the tape. If FCP is trying to cue up to digitize and the pre-roll drifts into the previous shot with the time code jump it will get lost and try to reque. This could mess up the hole batch. The trick is finding out witch clip is the culprit.

    Good luck

I’m running a G4 with 2 Lacie firewire dirves, a Canopus advc-100, and a DSR-45. All of them go through a firewire hub. For trouble shooting I have tried every hardware sequence I can think of. I even tried it with a single drive plugged into one port on my Mac and the DSR-45 in the other and I get the same thing.

I could very well be wrong, but my system worked fine before 10.3.9. I’m not the IT guy (we don’t have one), but if you do a search on the cow for 10.3.9 you will see a ton of folks with similar problems. Now that I’m thinking about it is their anyone on a G4 that has been ok on 10.3.9?

I have not deleted the user preferences, I’ll try it. Is that a Mac thing or a FCP thing? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

It just occurred to me that all of my problems happed after I did a software update. I haven’t had problems like this before so I am starting to think it might be the update. Everyone may want to stay away from the OS X 10.3.9 update! I’ll sent out a post if I can isolate this to the up date.

Is there a dip switch or menu setting on the DSR-45 that could be messing up the computer, I couldn’t see anything obvious?

It’s doing the same thing and all I have hooked up is 2 firewire drives daisy chained going in to one port and the dsr-45 in the other. I’m about ready to hit ebay and look for a nice 3/4 online system.

Nope, but it sounded like it would work. I’m going to try to take the canipus and the hub and see if that does it.
