You could do a match back in the sequence when you place a marker and then place a marker in the source material and duplicate the info. Not the faster way I’m sure.

I’d be curious to hear if you can place a marker in both seq and source at the same time too. I’d have to assume it’s a different command b/c I wouldn’t always want to place a marker in both.

I’m a compulsive “save all-er” no matter how many projects I have open. Nothing sucks more than to do a bunch a complicated edits, crash from some random reason and lose it all because you missed the autosave.

How much extra ftg do you have at the start of your clip? If you edit starts right at the start of the original clip you won’t have anything to dissolve with.

Hey Tim I don’t know Vegas but I can solidly back up your feeling that FCP and Avid are the industry standards and if you want to work professionally as an editor you need to learn both. I started on Avid but about 2 years ago got my own FCP at home just to learn it because of all the calls I was getting.

Other than books and training classes I find one of the best ways to learn anything is jump into it and do a project. FCP is easier for this in that you can easily afford a home system and sweat out the learning curve in the privacy of your own home. Find something easy-ish to work on like a personal or student film. I did wedding videos for a guy, not a lot of money but I learned the basics pretty well.
