Use the “+” before a page number in the print dialog box, to overide section number and print the using absolute number (EG “+10”). You could also print all pages and it should print

Andromeda has a product and it looks like they recently from screns and is now called artistic screening tools (they added cutline and etchtone).

Velociraptor is another good one to buy incase your shopping.

The wall street journal is the only publication I can think of that still uses Schafline (really nice), but they have some really weird specs when I submitted art to them. (40% max dot they asked forI was concerned about the huge loss in tonal range). But my 12 page spread worked and printed nice.

Another method for doing this is to take a grayscale image and use image >> mode >> bitmap. You can actually choose custom pattern to make an image using your logo or etc as a halftone pattern.

Good start on what you have tried so far.

Check your hard disk, you may have a bad sector, and Photoshop uses alot of virtual memory. Also update your graphics card, and go to the site for your motherboard and download any updates.

Is this consistent, can you make it happen every time, or is it more random? Does this happen in any other programs, or do you use any others on a regular basis.

Float a copy of your layer
Gaussian Blur the layer copy it a strong amount
Set the layer blending mode to soft light
Create a layer mask and paint out areas you do not want smooth

the soft light will give you that glowing sheen and rich color, you can adjust the layers opacity if 100% is to strong.

The magic word you are looking for is mosaic. You can do a google search and see the different programs which come up. There is one that I uses and believe it was called mosaic magic. Do a search on the Phothshop cow, as I have posted a safe link to this in the past.

You see bicubic interpolation in the image size palette, and yes that is photoshop default method for resizing images. Median is a blur filter which with a little touch gives you similar results to what the Gen Fractals or extensis Pixselcale do.

You might have noticed that on the box for either of the software, they don’t have any results comparing to photoshop. I really think these softwares are just a placebo, and I printed comparison images in my book “photoshop for digital video”.

Sounds like the versionque.dll is reacting funny to Gen fractals.

Let us know how your results with gen fractals is. I did some testing awhile back, and found virtiually no significant improvement over photoshop bicubic interpolation & median. Did not do many 75mb file mostly 50k to 5mb. Alienskin has a new product out since then, have not tried that.

I got 12k total using smallest file size from InDesign with 2 custom fonts adn 2 grey shapes. Depending on how much of the 2 font subsets you need to embed, you should be able to get similar results.

If you have acrobat pro, open the pdf there and go to advanced >> pdf optimizer. Go to the clean up tab and check everything. This will strip out all the items checked.

If you do your printing at the same color house, talk to them about what color proofing they use, and try to sync up to that as close as possible. If they are color management savvy, they will give you a copy of their color profile to use when printing color proofs of your photography.
