  • Exporting PDF advice – Small file size!

    Hello!

I’m doing an experiment… I decided to give InDesign a try just for kicks, I’m usually in the motion graphics department! I’ve created a single page file containing 2 fonts and 2 (grey) blocks of colour… very simple..

I need to export it to pdf with a file size under 50k. It seems no matter what compression setting I choose, the file comes out at 56k every time! I’ve scoured the help document in InDesign, but can’t find an exact answer.

Any advice on losing that extra 6k (or more?)

Thanks in advance. Excuse my ignorance 🙂

I got 12k total using smallest file size from InDesign with 2 custom fonts adn 2 grey shapes. Depending on how much of the 2 font subsets you need to embed, you should be able to get similar results.

If you have acrobat pro, open the pdf there and go to advanced >> pdf optimizer. Go to the clean up tab and check everything. This will strip out all the items checked.
