What kind of projectors are on this show?

Christie Twist/Barco Warp software can handle a lot of the curve mapping without the need for rendering the media again.

Thanks Matthew. Do you know if the drivers for the express card are snow leopard compatible by any chance?

as in Sanyo/Eiki/Christie LCD series (XF45/46)
or in the actual DLP styles from Christie/DPI/Barco?

for the LCD units, that are hanging from box truss, I use a ceiling mount that uses 1.5″ threaded pipe into a flat 4″ stock. The stock plate has 2 altman or mega clamps on it. Quick and easy. You can run the steel safety down the middle of the pipe as well.

For the Christies (non M series) I usually end up rigging to eye bolts using a turnbuckle with a shackle on one end and a half coupler on the other side. Works well for the digitals as well.
M series have a cage but basic operation is the same.

For Barco, the SLM series have integrated rigging and work decently as long as you use pipes and cheeseboroughs to help position the clamps where you need versus where they land on the truss.

Very well said Walter. And with WO 4/4.1 out you can program with the materials during preproduction and have the ability to render out the preview pane as a quicktime movie. Allowing for quick checks against the reference sequence. Plus the newer versions of WO allow for the use of Quicktime versions newer than 6.4, meaning the improvement in the codecs allow for more flexibility. I completely agree, that the programmer needs to be included in all the planning.

sure, you could take midi control off of the unit playing back the quicktime file and use the midi signals to control the lights. The low voltage stuff could be run from “DJ” style or architectural control products. or you could choose to use usb to dmx and do the same…really gets down to just how you want to engineer the product and how much money you want to spend.

exactly- I normally stripe a layer as my cue in Watchout 3 and using timecode, spit it out to the lighting console (using a grand ma) to chase. All the cues are then written to specific times. I use a MAudio Uno to go from USB to midi for the console connection.

With Watchout 4, you can spit commands out via artnet making this even easier.

Medialon would make it much more flexible but adds a layer of complexity and additional costs.

    Walter,

as usual you are right on this. didn’t even think of the titler issues. I guess I am so used to having the correct software, I don’t really think of the lack of software. Nice catch.
