In regards to the Canon C300.

“Not so good: no histogram or waveform”

The C300 does have a waveform. It is only viewable on the LCD flip up and not the evf. The focus enhance feature uses the waveform, so you can’t see them both at the same time.

Final Cut doesn’t do a very good job of converting 24 to 30fps. Instead of doing a proper 3:2 pulldown it freezes frames. I’m not a post expert, but it sounds kinda like what you described if you were editing 24fps in a 30fps timeline. When you changed your Kona card settings, did you create a new timeline at 23.98? Does your footage still look stroby?

    Hi Steve,

It’s been I while. I hope you’re doing well. I use my old powerbook G4 with a Lacie rugged drive to download cards in the field. You might need to consider hiring someone just to wrangle data if you have a shoot like you mentioned. Also, you can rent P2 cards locally to fill in as needed. The bigger P2 card you use, the longer it will take to download. There are also some cool devices out there to download P2 cards without a computer. Nexto has an interesting box that is a hard drive with a card reader built in. I haven’t used one, but they look interesting.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Sounds like you might be looking for a china silk. Generally white silks fall into three grades – full poly silk, china silk or 1/4 stop silk. Silks, while not all that soft are great for outside because the are quiet. A softer alternative is grid cloth or sail cloth which comes in full, half and quarter strengths.

I use a digital still camera for time lapse. If you take high resolution pictures, you can pan, tilt, and zoom in post.

To keep boxes from becoming too heavy use 3/4″ plywood for the ends you cut the handles into and the sides. Use 5/8″ for the 12″x20″ side and the middle support. I like AC plywood.
