February 11, 2013 at 9:21 pm in reply to: Having Problems Exporting Full 2-Hour File from FCPYes, every clip was converted to ProRes before I started the project and there were no H.264 files at all.
I did everything you suggested: deleted all render files, trashed prefs, emptied trash and rebooted, copied/pasted all to an new sequence, rendered and exported. And still it exported only til the 1:29:29 mark. Seems weird that it’s cutting off at that mark every time, right? Wondering if it’s a Preferences issue.
What I’d like to try now is to take the 1:29:29 file and combine it with the other file I exported the other day somehow. Both files are ProRes 422 LT. Is there a good program out there that allows you to see where the two clips match up? I think it might be off by a frame or two as is. I’ve heard Quicktime Pro works well (but I don’t have it) or MPEG Streamclip (which didn’t seem to give you the option to tweak the clips at all. Really at a loss here. So frustrating!
I appreciate all the suggestions so far. Hoping there is a workaround here…

February 10, 2013 at 8:03 pm in reply to: Having Problems Exporting Full 2-Hour File from FCPHi David, thanks for your reply.
I rendered everything and made sure that everything (including full) was checked in the drop-down menu, but it didn’t seem to change anything.
It is so odd what is happening here. It is exporting completely different timecodes than the ones I am telling it to. I even tried exporting the final 20 minutes (the section that has been giving me problems), re-importing it, and then trying to export a 2 minutes clip using a minute from the old timeline and a minute from the newly imported timeline as a test, and the mov file I got was completely different.
How would I go about finding a bad file type? I’ve never dealt with this type of issue before.

Codec is ProRes 422 LT. Sequence Setting: 1920×1080, 23.98, 48.0 khz.
I’ve tried exporting it a few different ways. One way was to export as QuickTime with the settings I wanted for Vimeo (1280×720, etc). When that didn’t work, I actually did try to export it as ProRes 422 LT and it unfortunately did the same thing (cutting off at the 1:29:28 mark). Had that worked, I was going to take the file and put it through compressor, but I can’t even get the full file to successfully export, so at this point I’m really unsure of what to do…

Does anyone know why the Audio TS folder is always empty on a DVD? I just want to be able to explain to the client why this is. Thank you!

Hey Sean,
Thanks for getting back to me so fast… I have this client who is trying to make copies of the DVD that I burned for him, but he tells me that he keeps running into problems with burning it because “there are no audio files” he keeps saying to me (although the audio DOES work)! I guess I am just not sure what to tell him when he asks why there are no audio files, and why he can’t take the DVD and burn it. Is there a specific setting that I might be missing that will help enable him to burn the contents? I appreciate your help.

January 11, 2009 at 10:36 pm in reply to: No Sound after importing MPEGs in Final Cut Pro???Hey David,
Thanks for getting back to me so quick!
I did what you said and I got MPEG Streamclip, and I did a test conversion to DV (is that right?), and I ran into one problem. The video seems to have a slight lag every three seconds or so, and I am wondering if I need to do the conversion with very specific settings… would you happen to know the exact settings for this?
I really appreciate your help.

Hey Jerry,
I actually was talking about the must-render red bar, so your advice seemed to do the trick! I just put on Unlimited RT and now it’s allowing me to work with the clips. Thank you so much for helping me out, and hopefully I will not be back on here asking more questions later!
Best,

November 4, 2008 at 9:39 am in reply to: Quality problems with importing a picture/watermark into Final Cut ProThanks guys for all of your help & attention. I am worried now because I just did exactly what you said, but I’m not sure it fully solved my problem. It still looks a tiny bit grainy, plus even the graphics I generated within FCP look a smidge grainy too (the lower 3rd looks not so good…) I’ve never worked with graphics on this kind of level, so I do not know how to troublehshoot this. Who would’ve thought that such a little image in the lower right hand corner would cause me so many problems? Not sure the next step. Helpline?

November 4, 2008 at 7:30 am in reply to: Quality problems with importing a picture/watermark into Final Cut ProHey Shane,
Thanks for answering my post…
The settings I’ve been using are just the standard DV/DVC PRO-NTSC settings on Final Cut Pro 5. Do you mean I have to re-import everything? Is there ANY way to do this with the current settings?
Thanks
