I am about 5 minutes from eating a bullet.
I just purchased a Dell XPS Laptop with an i7-2720qm processor. 8Gb of Ram and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2Gb Video Card.
    I have Boris BCC7.
I purposefully purchased this laptop specifically to be able to run Boris BCC7.
I inserted an Empty Event and then added Extruded Text from BCC7.

    I just got this:
    Hardware Test: Supported
Critical Test: Critical Error: The Card Manufacturer is not supported.
Please tell me that I am just ignorant on what to do about this and that I don’t have to box this thing up and return it because it won’t run BCC7 right.
I don’t know JACK about DirectX and Open GL.
At this point, I simply don’t understand it yet.
I have a kickin little system here.
Could this seriously not be enough to run Boris?
Please respond so that this Newbie can understand it.

    Thanks
    Mike

September 30, 2008 at 11:36 pm in reply to: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS!

I am saving the PNG at 655×480 size.

I am not up on saving straight or premultiplied.
Sorry, I just hit Save As: PNG

    My biggest question is still
*What is the best format to render to, when you want to keep the best quality?”

I see a huge difference in the file size of Mpeg 2 and AVI.

Does File Size automatically mean less (or better) compression?

    Thanks so much

    I have a newbie question.

    I use Vegas Pro 8
Is there just one compression type:
    mpeg2 – avi – QuickTime
that is the best to render to, before rendering short videos
and burning them with DVD Architect?

I have made text frames in Photoshop (PNG file)
and layered it into my videos.
After rendering, the text does not look crisp anymore.

I usually render my project to AVI, before burning it to DVD Architect.

I am at a loss for what to do and cannot find a definitive answer.
I do have a good system with plenty of Ram memory.

Hope I have given enough information.

    Thanks

September 1, 2008 at 3:27 am in reply to: TRAINING DVD for Vegas Pro 8? _ recommendations?

    Dear Douglas,

I apologize, but I got completely lost in the discussion concerning Vegas Pro 8 training.
I too want to learn Vegas to my best ability.

I have been using it for about a year, but have only learned the absolute basics, just to get by.

Can you give me a web shortcut to EXACTLY what it is that I want to order?

I want to learn EVERYTHING there is to know about VEGAS PRO 8 but don’t know what to order.

The bundle sounds great, but I am confused as to what I really need.

    Thanks
    Mike
