boris grafitti will do this nicely also. I suppose if you were only doing it on a few titles in a program you could fudge it, just make each letter a separate title, stack ’em up on a separate sequence, animate, and bring that in as a clip – tedious if doing it a lot obviously.

I agree that pacing is what allows the viewer to keep up with the content without being bored or overwhelmed. I make educational videos for medical audiences, often with some pretty wordy paragraphs about technical subjects. Sometimes you need to space out the sentences just to give some breathing room between complex thoughts…it’s not a used car commercial.

Along the same line, it could also refer to how you cut action. In most cases you make your cuts motivated by action, such as someone entering or leaving a frame.

But watch Elephant, and you will see a whole new definition of pacing. The movie builds to a dramatic conclusion, but with very long cuts. I wish more action movies could understand that fast frenetic cutting does not necessarily make things more exciting.

had to turn off “automatic” video out in edit-preferences. Adobe claims the preferences are under the “file” menu incidentally.

back in the online edit bay days we monitored through a regular TV for the same reason.
No matter how I adjust my computer’s volume controls, it still sounds distorted, but the audio is in fact ok through the DV output.
Only thing is, probably because of my USB drives, the audio and video cannot both play smoothly via firewire, without rendering one or the other that is. Even though my conformed audio files are on an internal IDE drive.

The only one I remember was the one where the lady on the plane got her dress caught on the tray table and found herself straddling the other male passenger. I was surprised at the non-family friendly nature of this spot, given the previously mentioned boob incident. I think the spot was for insurance, but I could not tell you which company.
I guess after the Katrina and other storms last year the insurance companies want to appear to be good natured.

so if you have a nested sequence on another timeline and hit render, it does not render the timelines that are nested?

If I am doing a CD project which involves MPEG videos, chances are there are a number of them. In that case I export each sequence or portion of a sequence as an AVI, then use the batch feature in Squeeze of Premiere 6.5 to render the MPEGs.
Why Adobe got rid of the batch utility is beyond me – it is very useful.

speaking of stills, although off topic – there is a stop motion animated movie coming out in which every frame is from a digital still camera, so the movie was shot and edited at 4K – should be interesting to see.
