Hi Rafael,
Thanks for the reply…so would you recommend either the blackmagic intensity pro or the matrox MXO2 for the job?…
Thanks,
Mike

it does indeed, but not exactly an efficient way of de-interlace a project is it?…
Anyway, in terms of de-interlacing after you export…if i press command>E… and want to export in h.264…what settings do i use to make a good de-interlaced clip?…Do i just change the field order to progressive?…Where are the settings to control the de-interlace procedure?
And if you say its better do de-interlace after you export, do you think fieldskit deinterlacer is not worth getting?…
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Vincent,
Thanks for the reply…I could try duplicating all the clips but that will take a while considering its 40 mins long…I’m thinking about buying fieldskit…just downloaded a demo…what do you think of it?
I’ve also just applied magic bullet frames to the sequence…waiting for it to render…i had this already…have you tried this – what do you think of it?…
btw i also have a section where i speed up a clip to 1900% and also a sequence where i slowed down the clips to 50%…i did this just using the default speed changer in ppro
…ideally i’d use twixtor or kronos for this but again cant get hold of them at the momentThink I’ll re-do those using timewarp in after effects…is that the best method in after effects?..i’ve read its ‘based’ on kronos…
Lastly – h.264…is there an alternative to this codec for small file sizes for the web…I’ve read about gamma issues and when i open my project in mpeg streamclip or vlc i am sometimes getting different color variations depending on what settings i chose on export…it looks ok in quicktime though…
Thanks,
Mike

Hi ,
Thanks for your suggestion…it turned out to be a cf bug- it was eating virtual memory on my boot drive. I got given a beta of the new version of cf by synthetic aperture and the problem went away…

Hi chris,
Thanks for the response…im only using premiere at client request – i usually use fcp – so would normally convert avi to prores before i start…
I thought premiere could edit a multitude of codecs natively with no problems?…is aiff a problem in premiere too?…And which is the best codec to use in premiere pro cs5 on a mac if you’ve been given a ton of avi footage?…In this case my client wants both a video file and a copy of the project at the end to use on a pc version of cs5.5…
Do you know why i have audio in premiere which is only playing out of the left speaker but when i take the same audio into fcp it plays out of both? – its set to stereo in both programs so not sure what thats all about…avi?
And how do i simply pan the audio to the centre in ppro so it plays out of both speakers in premiere? Ive tried the pan in the audio mixer and it doesnt move audio to both channels as it would in fcp so I might have to duplicate the clip and add the swap channels filter to one clip and adjust volume as required…or export the section to fcp and import again when it will then miraculously have sound in both channels…
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
Since posting this I got a reply from the guy running the synthetic aperture forum and he says that color finesse doesnt create any intermediate or render files but he said color finesse might be causing something else to eat up disc space…
I’ve now changed my scratch discs to the hard-drive with more room and also routed the media cache files and the media cache database to this other hard-drive but when I try to render an 11 min sequence from premiere which has cf grades applied, it still saves somewhere on my near empty hard-drive(only 25gb left) which has all my applications etc on it (think its called the boot drive?)..so the computer stops the render before it ends and tells me that open applications have to quit as I am running out of disc space…
Any ideas how I get this rendered sequence to use up space on this second hard-drive instead? (it has 450gb free)
In FCP routing the scratch disc and cache files to another hard-drive would do the trick.
Any ideas would be much appreciated
Thanks,
Mike

Hi John,
Thanks for the suggestion…Just downloaded iZotope RX2 Advanced…I’ll take a look at any tutorials I can find and read their pdf manual, but in terms of removing unwanted sounds from under dialogue, do you have any tips/workflow advice in RX2 please(the noise I’m trying to remove is the lav mic scraping on a shirt during interview)? Any suggestions much appreciated
Thanks,
Mike
