    Hi,

I’m using color finesse 3.0.2 inside of premiere pro cs5 on a mac and have a question

All I’m doing on my computer right now is grading a few shots inside of color finesse in premier but the gb of space on my hard-drive where i save my premiere project is going down quite rapidly as i grade, even though I’m not rendering these shots as i go.

Also, when I try rendering a sequence which has been graded using color finesse, this too seems to eat rapidly away at the gb of space on my hard-drive which stores projects and render files etc…

I understand this might be due to render files but where are ones specific to color finesse placed? I’d like to know so I can either delete them or change the hard-drive they are saved to…Or are they put with the premiere pro render files?

If they exist separately from premiere render files, how can I change the location they get saved to – I’d like to have them saved onto another internal hard-drive which has lots of room on it…or do i just change the location of the media cache from premiere pro to this alternate hard-drive and the color finesse files will follow too?

    Thanks for the help

    Mike

    Hi,

Since posting this I got a reply from the guy running the synthetic aperture forum and he says that color finesse doesnt create any intermediate or render files but he said color finesse might be causing something else to eat up disc space…

I’ve now changed my scratch discs to the hard-drive with more room and also routed the media cache files and the media cache database to this other hard-drive but when I try to render an 11 min sequence from premiere which has cf grades applied, it still saves somewhere on my near empty hard-drive(only 25gb left) which has all my applications etc on it (think its called the boot drive?)..so the computer stops the render before it ends and tells me that open applications have to quit as I am running out of disc space…

Any ideas how I get this rendered sequence to use up space on this second hard-drive instead? (it has 450gb free)

In FCP routing the scratch disc and cache files to another hard-drive would do the trick.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

    Thanks,

    Mike

Could it be that you’ve changed your scratch disks for a different project but not the one you’re using? Premiere Pro sets this in a project specific method, with the default being alongside of the project.

What if you moved the project to the ‘free’ drive?

    Hi ,

Thanks for your suggestion…it turned out to be a cf bug- it was eating virtual memory on my boot drive. I got given a beta of the new version of cf by synthetic aperture and the problem went away…
