That’s fantastic feedback, for a person like me not being an editor but a colorist, this information is very encouraging,
to know that resolve can take of online-edit problems like the one you mentioned, and does it easily. Thanks again for sharing your findinds.

Great question
What’s the difference in performance using Resolve with the different flavours of macro towers ranging from 2008 – 2010
How exactly will a 2010 macpro perform better
Let’s say side by side a 2009 and 2010 both equipped with the same 2 video cards ( gt 120 and gtx 285)
Both 2.93 ghz processing.
Better rendering?, more layers?,etcI already went ahead and sold my 2008 and will be getting my new 12 core next week, but I can’t help to think if this was really necessary. I know it will be a great improvement for CS5 but how will Resolve benefit from this.
Thanks in advance

That would be roughly 550 mbs internal raid

September 3, 2010 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Happy to report my mac DaVinci Resolve is up and running!!!!Hi Ola
yes I have read the configuration guide and the right RAM amount configurations needed up to only 24 gigs not 32.
I’m just curious to know how much RAM the system really uses, is there any advantage in having 24 gigs or RAM installed for this application alone, I know for other applications like adobe after effects the more RAM the better for preview.
I would like to max out my new 12 core westmere coming next week with all the RAM I can.
just curious of how much RAM Resolve uses at most.
thanks guys, looking forward to more test results

I’m dying to know what difference in performance you find between the two cards, I hope the 285 wins because that’s the one I’ve got.
also, can you see how much RAM is Resolve maxing out at with those node and layer intensive grades.
I’m curious to know how much RAM does Resolve really need, the new Mac Pros come with 6 gigs standard, maybe that’s all I need
thanks and have fun testing

Great feedback
Do you know if the wave panel comes with locked or assignable buttons and functions, will there be a wave plug in similar to Color’s plug in to reconfigure and re assign functions. How does the conform tool deal with speed changes in the footage and also reframing, do such parameters carry across from FC or Avid?
Thanks again for your helpful insights on the software.
