I have Studio2 with Leopard on a brand new PowerMac G5 with a 4Ghz and FCP is absolutely not any faster than when I ran FCP 5 on a PowerBook with a 2.somethingGHz.

October 30, 2007 at 2:19 pm in reply to: DVD files shortened/condensed upon import

I appreciate the replies. I downloaded MediaCoder but have had no luck. It requested I install Firefox, so I did. But, that didn’t help. I keep receiving the “No file outputed” message after it tries to convert the VOB’s for like 2 seconds. I tried several different settings and nothing seemed to work. I’m not a video-novice, just hate when these programs have a old-looking hard to follow interface and then just throw errors at me with no explaination.

    Any other help on this?

    Thanks

Another thing I forgot to add in reference to my comment about their poor DVD footage quality, is the fact that I have done the method of capture I mentioned in the first post from some excellent DVD footage and the results were fine.

Thanks for the input Vince. I figured the multiple steps of compression would lead to trouble. I think part of it is just the horrible DVD quality I was given as well. They burned it in an obvious long-play format and its already pixelated severely.

Anyway, I am able to skip the step of input to the DV camera and back out to the camera. I have a Turtle Beach Video Advantage card for analog input. What, if anything, can that save me compression-wise.

I’ll mess around with the VBR settings and see what I can get.

    Thanks alot!

May 8, 2007 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Menu problems & improper playback

After looking at my timeline further it dawned on me I haven’t been clear in my descriptions. My timeline is NOT one large m2v/ac3 segement, I have 5 different pieces on the timeline with each segment’s beginning being a chapter point. Is this an incorrect way to operate Encore?

I could encode all 5 into 1 piece, but didn’t want to redo it if I don’t have to.

My Chapter points currently are set as END Action — Menu 1 Default

    Thanks

I’m on 2.0 I do not need a Play All and always want it to kick back to the menu after each 10 minute chapter is viewed.

I’m also not familiar with the Chapter End-links function.

    Thanks,
    Jason

I apprciate the opinions on the matter from everyone. I settled with the production company for $1000 two weeks ago but have yet to see any of the paperwork. I made it plainly clear they pay a little now and deal with me, or pay a lot later and deal with the court.

What I want? Still unsure. I have sold licensing rights for a photo for a mere $125 simply because my customers are race teams on a tight budget.

The footage used was around 10 seconds long, yet without it, the entire video would be pointless. The original content was also manipulated to a lower quality and to remove the date stamp on the video.

This video is a whole different story as its a world wide company’s production group at fault here. Would I be off my rocker asking for $125 x 3?
