I have been having similar problems. I noticed when I close the LCD screen the pitch goes away. I believe the LCD might be picking up RF?? But the problem has been occuring at all locations. Email me and lets discuss this.

If you can get someone to pay $50 an hour or more to asst. edit more power to you. You should post some names that will pay the rate you speak of so our fellow COW member and others can apply. That way they won’t wast time with other outfits.

That rate is because your “friend” is in the UNION. Their rate is any entirely different matter all together. If your buddy can get you into the Editors Guild or you are already a member than more power to you. The guild has THE best editing rates. But don’t expect those kinds of rates from a cable show or an indie production that is non-union.

Hi,
When I was looking for work as an assist. editor, the highest I heard of for entry level or newbie to LA with no LA credits was $25.00 hr. There is A LOT of competition for jobs. The shifts are often graveyard, and you may never move up into a full editor position at some shops. I was surprised at how many shows, that had budgets, were offering $10.00 hr or would want the work for free because some college new grad. said they would do the job for credit only.

If your cables and conections are good, and your format, and camera settings and the various other settings for FCP are correct, then my first suggestion is to trash your FCP prefs. might be corrupted. If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling the software. I have have done this when
strange problems appear suddenly and I am doing everything correctly.Mickie Shaw

Hello,
The GYHD 100 does do 60p but it is HDV-SD60p which shoots at 480/60p the HD200 is shooting 720p/60. I have found a work around on another forum. Would like to share:
“I briefly had a project that was shot in this format – I was able to edit it on Final Cut 5.1.4 but the only thing was at the time I could not capture it directly in Final Cut. I had to use a piece of software you can download from Apple called DVHSCap to be able to capture the HDV stream… and from there I was able to preserve the slow motion..
Now, I’m not sure if FCP 6 has fixed this capture problem – but I definitely know that you can consider DVHSCap a workaround that works. Google DVHSCap and you should be able to find the proper download package from Apple. It’s free.”“Apple has a utility on its developer’s site entitled DVHSCap which allows capture of material from HDV devices (or even the DVHS deck) and also the ability to lay back to these devices. It is free. To use it to its best ability, combine that with another freeware application, MPEG Streamclip. Capture in DVHSCap, open the file in MPEG streamclip and convert to the codec of your choice. You can upconvert to a higher HD codec or downconvert to DV. I recommend letting the camera downconvert, however, since that is totally real time.”
You have to join Apples developer group to download Xtools, DVHSCAP. Streamclip is available to all. Everything is free.

You are the first person that understands my problem. I have looked up the info you suggested and am going to try your work around. Thanks to you I also found some great info related to this problem at: https://karenoch.biblicalbear.com/?page_id=44 . She explains in detail how to download, install, and use the software you suggested. The software is only through Apple’s developer group and you have to be a member.

Hello,
The camera has a rec. setting labled “HDV-SD60p”. According to the manuel it is recording “HDV formate shoots using a 480/60p signal.”
My only question is does anyone know if FCP will edit this format?

The camera I have is the GYHD-100 and it does shoot in SD60p. Please explain how quicktime is use to capture the video for FCP?
