September 13, 2012 at 4:01 pm in reply to: DVD Burning Problem, tried doing what it says on here but no luckThanks Joseph. Yea I compress everything in compressor first. The smaller file I have is 16gb and I have used compressor using the H.264 preset and that has created a 4gb file which is much better, but the bigger project is 56gb so that will still be quite large I guess. She wants the footage in the best quality possible for me to send her on a USB so she can always have it and make DVD’s and things in the future and upload it to youtube and places as well.
I figured it would just be a master copy of thier wedding on a USB for them, but 56 gb is way too large to send lol

November 30, 2011 at 11:18 am in reply to: My made DVD’s won’t work in Bluray machines or on PC’sHey
So I have been scouring the internet for similar problems and trying the suggestions and I have the answer woohoo, it was on this thread:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3096117?start=0&tstart=0
When I was burning the disc it was saying ‘ a video_ts directory already exists and I was hitting reuse instead of delete and I hadn’t assigned the build to the project folder it was set to default which meant it was saved in library/cache. So I deleted the stuff in the video_ts folder in cache and then went to burn the disc again, I saved the files to the project folder and I hit delete instead of reuse when the pop up box came up and now the DVD is playing in the bluray machine….Problem Solved.
I don’t understand why this makes a difference and why the disc played on DVD and mac and not bluray before but by doing this it now works on everything YEY
Thanks

November 29, 2011 at 7:36 pm in reply to: My made DVD’s won’t work in Bluray machines or on PC’sI am using a Verbatim -R
I burn the disc straight out of DVD Studio Pro so I think that finalises it at the same time
The Bluray player I am testing it on says:
The player may not play certain DVD-R because of the disc type or recording conditions
If a DVD-R has not been recorded properly in a DVD video format it will not play
A DVD-R will not play if it has been recorded with a bit rate that exceeds 10mbpsMy workflow is as I wrote above so it should all work

Hi Guys
Thanks for the responses, it is interesting what you say about how the DVD is plugged in, I never knew that made a difference. Mine is attached just using a scart so I guess that really doesn’t help. I need to invest in a new DVD player anyway so I might look for a really good one that connects by HDMI…any suggestions 🙂
I use Pal and the template is set up correctly.
I want to try making an HD video with the same template and burning to Blu Ray. I’m researching at the moment to find out how to do this. Can any of you help me with this. This is my set up:
Mac OS X 10.6.8
FCP7
Compressor
DVDSPI’m guessing I need to buy a blu ray burner and LG and Pioneer seem to be the ones people are recommending and apparently I can’t make the menu and use DVDSP and apparently I need to use Encore…is this right?
Then I let you know how the menu looks to lol

September 19, 2011 at 4:15 pm in reply to: FCP to DVD with HDV footage and making the QT movie smallerThe sequence settings are just matched to the clip so the settings are:
1440×1080 – HD (1440×1080) (16:9)
Compressor – HDV 1080i50I exported the project as a quicktime movie set to current settings
Once the movie had exported to my desktop it is a ‘Quicktime Movie’ and the dimensions are 1920×1080 and the size is 12gb
The movie won’t play on my laptop?
