  • Same experience with one of my client who has 2 of them.
It seems they became even more reddish overtime.

The client did not complain for years but now the monitors have become so reddish it is unbearable.

I guess he has the choice to either send them to be recalibrate or recalibrate them himself with the right tools.

October 5, 2014 at 12:52 pm in reply to: most buggy update ever: cc2014

    It is mac os 10.8

The issue has been identified both by users and by Adobe as been related to authorisations and also to preferences moving from cc to cc2014.

    The main solutions are:
    1. In (root HD)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/commun/Plug-Ins: Duplicate your 7.0 folder and rename it 8.0
    2. In your main HD info page (apple i) add your main user name and make it read write and apply to enclosed.
3.The adobe team also did something in a remote session where they renamed some adobe files that i do not recall.

I am still testing to see if it cured the issue

July 4, 2013 at 7:17 pm in reply to: Project Manager

I can confirm that with Premiere Pro CC as of July 4th 2013, the issue with Long Gop mpeg and H.264 when trimming a project in Project Manager has not been fixed yet.

That really mean that we should follow the good old habit of transcoding to ProRes or DNxHD if we ever think that we might want to save a trimmed version of the final project.
Hopefully the adobe team will eventually get it solved.

April 12, 2013 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Panasonic HPX300, excessive noise in the image.

One thing have a hard Time understanding is why the noise increases so much when opening the lens . I get the fact that when you play with a tight depth of field, you do notice more the noise on the out of focus part of the image. That happens on all cameras. But it should not happen in a terrible way like people seem to be experiencing.
It really seems like if when you open the lens you also increase gain automatically. Could there be a kind of hidden gain stage control that stays on even when the camera is in manual mode…
    Anyway that is very scary.
Because even if the lens is not top quality that should not affect it.

April 12, 2013 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Panasonic HPX 370 vs Sony PMW EX3

I am looking a getting a multicam setup . I looked at the hpx-371 because it is one of the cheapest cam that can get ccus.
But there seems to be a quality issue with the hpx-371 having some quality issues in changing light situations. People see artifacts and have a softer than normal image when light changes.
I haven’t heard people complaining about similar problems with the Sony ex 3 or the new pmw-200.

Anybody have issues similar on these cameras?
I guess best thing is to rent both of them and check them side by side before ordering a large batch of any of them.
    Thanks

    Totally correct Aindreas.
What it really means to me at this point is the that fcpx can only be used as a “plug in”
Example: I found the stabilizer pretty cool. I placed all of my shaky shot on a time line. Processed them and re-imported them to FCP6 for “REAL” editing
    .
Same with audio. The auto leveling and compressor in fcpx is better than fcp6 native audio filters. SO again, I process my files in x and re-import in 6.
It naturally is not as cool as a real plug in, because you have to reboot every time with the other partition!!

But that is the only use of fcpx to me. It’s like a a super boosted engine in a car with no tires.

  • OpenCl is sadly way inferior to CUDA, as you might know.

It all comes down to speed, real time processing for each client

The reality again: Large facilities still rely on LINUX based applications, and appropriate rendering solutions and real time processing.

I do not rule Macs out totally in the future, the fact is that current PC solutions are more adequate for Premier and Media composer…

  • Regarding Mac Pros

No they are not going to stop working
But if the next OS x does not support FCP6 or 7 : to that means they stopped working!!!

Boot Camp using Mac Pros is not a pro solution: Drivers are not well written and it will never behave like a Z800 or any Pro Grade PC rinnig W7 or linux…
