Can you use Illustrator to offset the paths of your characters to make them thinner? I don’t mean just squeezing them – I mean actually offsetting the paths. Or can you use a thinner – that is, less bold – typeface?

You can use expressions to make layers in 3d look at each other. You’d want to use a null object in AE that follows the movement of his hands and tie the Element layer to it (one of my favorite Element features) and have that null point towards a null where the saw is located.

Form would be good, but you might be able to get something kinda similar using Card Dance which I think Dave mentioned.

Alternatively, I think you could get that look using Text Animators, but you’ll have to build your own from scratch. It’s important to know how it’s actually working under the hood, so I’d highly recommend watching the video tutorial on this page [link]. It’ll teach you how the text animators work, so you’ll have a solid foundation to start from to build your own effect.

To be honest, I think what you’re doing might be better done in C4D Lite rather than in AE. 🙂

You should be able to double-click on your workspace name at the top of AE to reset it to the way you have it set up.
