Judging sync? Are you saying that that the viewers in FCP aren’t accurate?

    Thanks for your reply,

These clips are actually finished commercials for historical reel. Most of the spots are

    Mac 10.6.8
    2.2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16GB Memory

    FCP 7.0.3

The source clips are standard def NTSC CCIR601
    Uncompressed 10bit 4 2 2
    720×486 29.97
    48kz
and then some are 16bit and some are 24bit

There also are some Pro Res 422HQ mixed in there as well, though not too much.

    SEQUENCE SETTINGS

    720×486 CCIR 601 NTSC (40:27)
    PAR 720×480 DV
    Field Dominance Lower(Even)
    Editing Timebase 29.97
    Compressor Apple ProRes 422HQ
    Audio Rate 48
    Audio Depth 16
    Config Stereo Downmix

You’re right in my assumption that it was the bit depths, but I guess it could be something else as well.

I have a KONA capture card and I’m judging sync on my computer monitors, not my video monitor.

Do you need any other info?

Thanks, I actually figured it out from one of the older Cow posts.

I needed to lock the non-relevant tracks, and then it allowed me to do it. I never once in my life used locking in Avid, but I guess it’s essential in FCP.

    Thanks for your help!
