I use a free plugin called Deshaker that works with VirtualDub. It doesn’t actually live within Vegas but is very effective. Detailed instructions can be found here:

The first time takes awhile b/c you have to sift through the info., download programs, etc. But it does work well. And best of all it is free.

What exactly do you mean by “tracking” software? What do you want the software to do?

Agree with you on the title tool – it sucks. However, the pan/crop tool has long been my favorite feature in Vegas. In my mind it blows away Premiere, Final Cut, and Avid. Things that take me 5 seconds in Vegas end up taking 60 seconds and 10 mouseclicks in the other apps. It’s all in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

It depends on how pleased you are with how the re-rendered .WMV file looks. If it looks OK then just stick with WMV as the source. Going to AVI is ideal but it will introduce other possible issues into your workflow such as file size, the stability of creating 5 hour AVI files, integrating the additional hardware, etc. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

So when you play the DVD using computer software do the chapter titles show up? I’m not just having a problem with WM Player – it’s every software. The chpater markers do not show up as I named them. They just show up as “chapter 1”, “chapter 2”, etc.

Yes, they were named. Are you thinking that if the chapter markers are named this information should automatically show up when playing back the DVD on a computer?
