August 23, 2006 at 4:53 amI just wish they would improve the titling functions to something more like Live Type. It is the only thing that makes me jealous of the FCP guys. 🙂
I also would like to see a better cropping/resizing tool. How about something that actually makes sense like putting handles on the corners of the image and letting you drag each independently as well as drag it around a fixed display space like every other application out there? This resizing by zooming/unzooming and dragging outside the image is completely counter intuitive.
Can’t wait to try Architect 4 though. Looks like some good additions there. Hopefully they also add HD DVD and Blu-ray authoring, being Sony, Blu-ray at least should be there.
We are also looking at an XDCAM-HD camera, so that workflow addition will be much welcomed.

August 24, 2006 at 12:59 pmAgree with you on the title tool – it sucks. However, the pan/crop tool has long been my favorite feature in Vegas. In my mind it blows away Premiere, Final Cut, and Avid. Things that take me 5 seconds in Vegas end up taking 60 seconds and 10 mouseclicks in the other apps. It’s all in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

August 24, 2006 at 6:29 pmThere are some aspects of it that are useful and do make the job quick. Perhaps if they made both available? Make resize handles on the image/video with a fixed display window like most apps. This could be enabled by a simple toggle box like the fixed aspect ratio, or verticle only buttons. If it is disabled, everything stays the same as it is now.

August 25, 2006 at 6:51 pmMaybe it’s my long history with Media 100 before I moved to Vegas for so much of my work, but….. Can’t they put multiple timelines into Vegas? Multiple timelines are a godsend for working on longer form pieces, segmented projects, and different versions of the same piece. Being stuck with one timeline is my only major gripe with Vegas. (I know about nesting; it’s not the same.) Are there any other multiple timeline lovers out there who can help raise a cry to get this into development at Sony?

August 26, 2006 at 2:09 amI do lots of long form work and use multiple instances and project nesting. It works fine for me.

August 26, 2006 at 4:33 pmAs Nancy says, have numerous Vegas instances open. I often have anything up to a dozen or so open and cut/copy/paste etc between them. For me it works like as many timelines as you want. Just minimize the ones you are not working directly on to the taskbar. Available in an instant when you need them.
