What causes the overheating is all over the place but with the LCD being off the overheating is less of an issue but this is definitely an uphill battle. Maybe you build a box out of a cooler with just the lens and the wires coming out a sealed opening and you use ice packs to keep the camera cool. Put this rig on a steadicam and bam you good to go 🙂

My guess is this is where the problem is, you have a delay between the audio and video, so your syncing is off.
To test, pull in a video clip with audio and look for the sync issue. IF it looks out of sync that is your problem.

FIrst and foremost you need to be looking at a fast RAID system. That is normally the bottleneck to playback stuttering.
Look at 8 day SAS enclosures and cards, these will also offer you redundancy of your files and projects.

I agree with the not to stress about it but I’m a firm believer in knowing the short comings and limitations. Then you can creatively work around them.

first and foremost, H264 should not be used in FCP, it has to be converted first to an editing codec before being brought into FCP.
Having you been syncing the audio with the video manually or just using clips with video and audio together.
How are you monitoring video and audio in FCP? External monitor and video card?

google it. the biggest thing with cmos is the rolling shutter effect. The benefit of a CMOS is that they are cheaper. Some of the higher end cameras by sony or panasonic with CMOS chips deal with the rolling shutter better than the others.

if you are going to use a canon you cannot hit record, but I laid out a way that it can be done.

You have a software or hardware problem. If you have a video card I would remove it, uninstall the drive and see if you are still getting corrupt frames.
If that doesn’t work I would do one of two things.
A)
Uninstall FCP, reinstall, if still a problem, wipe HD and to a total reinstall from the ground up.or
B) take the system to Apple and have them look at the graphic card.

By definition if you mirror the screens they have to be the same. Since the MBP cannot go up in resolution the 27″ has to come down.
YOur MBP should reset itself with the other monitor is missing but FCP may not. Control-u resets the windows to the default layout.

There is no such thing as that, if you are shooting 1080 (or 720p) you are shooting DVCProHD.If you are shooting 24pA, make sure that remove duplicate frames or pull down is checked in the preferences and you will have 23.98 clips.
