Why would you deinterlace footage if you are going to a DVD? If your source footage is interlaced it should be interlace through the process, always keeping the field order the same.
When encoding to m2v from uncompressed there will always be a quality lose. You cannot go from 100GB/hr to 2GB/hr without giving up quality.

FYI, you don’t need to say “pre-intel” when you say you have a G5, there are no Intel G5s so they are all “pre”
All G5s had double layer burners in them.

Well I ordered the manual, it is a horrible scanned copy of the pages and they are landscape so they cannot even be read on the computer. Just Buyer-beware.

I, for one, would like to see a choice of colors on the outside ends of the cards, that silver is so 20th century.

Having and easy setup does not mean the codec is installed. Maybe trying reinstalling FCP (that is where the codec is normally installed.

Panasonic cameras, DVX100, HVX200 and many others record TRUE progressive frames but they have to put them on interlaced tape with pull down (pA mode), when you capture this footage correctly and remove the pull down you have true progressive frames.DV50 (or DV25) 23.98 is a progressive as long as it is on the computer there is never a need to introduce interlacing. You can also have true 30p if the camera supports it (if going to tape it is recorded with pulldown that must be removed but once captured correctly it is progressive as a file. Anytime you go to tape or video out to TV interlace is added by the video card or computer. There is of course DVD-Recorders. You can google Hardware m2v encoders. Most are pretty expensive.

Do you want it to be still when it holds?
If you want the second menu, which is all it is, you would set the loop point to when you want the button highlight to come on and then set the menu to loop and it will return to this spot from the end of the video.

I’m going to sit and be corrected. Great camera for the price anyway you list the incorrect specs. 🙂
