Why would you have a SD resolution and then a HD aspect ration? When you start you need to be in SD 720×480 and then Widescreen (1.2) if you want it to be a 16:9.Then there is no telling what your TV and DVD setup is or how well it handles the up-conversion to fill the screen.

Well, wide-angle is not an effect, it is a field of view, to get that you have to add image around your existing frame. Don’t think we are to that point yet (but Photoshop is getting close)

Do you have TimeMachine running, if so look in there for a backup with the file. Could a drive be un mounted that has your project file on it?

Once again this has been posted a ton of times.
For shorts always use CBR encoding, so start with whatever you want, change encoding mode to CBR, Set average to no more than 7.5Mbps (audio also needs to be encoded as ac3 @ .192Mbps for stereo). In the frames tab, Turn on Frames Set the Resize Filter to Best.

Call it what ever you like, pixel shifting instead of up-rezing but one thing the chip is not is a 1080p chip. I’m a fan of these cameras so I’m not knocking them.
I will restate my claim – “Most people that I know and have read consider 720p @ 60p or 24pN to be the sweet spot for the HVX200 and HPX170”
If I’m “technically” wrong about my description of the chip and camera record fine I can live with that but I would always shoot these camera as 720p in either 60p or 24p UNLESS I was using footage with another cameras that shooting 1080p.
Ed, in the end you need to do the testing, shoot the same thing at 1080 and 720 which do you like better. Shoot 30p and 24p which do you like better. The only other people that should matter to you is your clients.

I know money is such a factor in everything that we do but you have to ask yourself is how much time is the rental of another 170 or ex3 worth. I would choose the one you like better and rent another one to match. Both of these cameras rent for about $100-150/day.

Search the DVDSP and this forum, there are hundreds of post about this.
Export Self-contained, Current settings, into compressor DVD preset making sure you keep it at 16:9.
