220 represents the data rate at 1080i/59.94 – so if you are at 23.976,24, or 24 it will be 175 or 180/185. The x represents 10 bit version. I don’t think you will get much value out of 1:1 compared to 185 based on your sources and it will take up 4.5 times more storage.

You might want to play with the paint effect and use the unsharp filter to see if anything looks better or not. Here is a basic overview of using unsharp on Photoshop:

Other than a DCP there is not a whole lot of reason for 2K acquisition – you can scale it to 1080, but there is not enough of resolution difference to take advantage of supersampling or over-sampling as described in this blog: https://endcrawl.com/blog/2048×1152-is-a-total-crock/

And the fact that Media Composer’s resize algorithm is OK, but not great to start with.

But workflow wise, it is the same – as what your 1920×1080 would be.

Workflow will be the same. What is the final delivery of the music video, 1920×1080? If so, then the 2K will be scaled or you will have the ability to so very slight re-composition of the image – but only ever so slight.

Are you using timeline view of waveforms or the track based ones available on each track? You may have a waveform cache issue – you could try deleting the contents of that folder in the project folder and letting them rebuild and see what happens.

Canon C300 records an MXF wrapped longGOP MPEG format that comes in three data rates:

25 Mbps (1440×1080) referred to as “thins raster” in Media Composer
    35 Mbps (1280×720 and 1920×1080)
    50 Mbps (1280×720 and 1920×1080)

    Frame rates: 23.99p, 25p, 25i, 20.97p, 19,97i, 50p, 59.94p

    8 bit video

    4:2:0 in 25 and 25 Mbps modes
    4:2:2 in 50 Mbps mode

    MPEG2
    Long GOP

every 1 hour of middle quality (35Mbps) at 23.976 will be 16.43GB
Higher quality (50Mbps) will be 23.18GB

There’s also a version from Powerproduction that works from within FCP (and Avid) if you want to use the NLE timeline.

Sure -that should work – it was unclear at first that the deliverable was 16:9 letterbox versus a center cut. You could also make the SD letterbox in a third party encoding application like Squeeze, Adobe Media Encoder, MPEG Streamclip, etc.

I assume you are wanting 4:3 center cut from a 16:9 source? Or do you want SD 16:9 full height anamorphic? If you make a 4:3 SD project you can set your sources to be center cut using the reformat column as Shane suggested (or use source settings on all clips and FrameFlex on source). If you want 16:9 FHA, then you make an SD 16:9 project and select “stretch” as the reformat.
