Well at full 720p/60 the data rate is 100Mbs. At 24fps it is around 77Mbs, about 1/2 of HDCAM.

You should be able to do DVPRO100 off the FireWire drives, but don’t expect a lot of multiple real time stream support which for a feature, may not be an issue.
DVCPRO @ 100Mb/s versus HDCAM @ 145Mb/s is not a whole lot of storage savings for an offline, but is still HD as you say.
Xpress Pro 5.0 and later will support 720p/23.976 over FireWire. The Mojo will allow you to monitor as SD (not a true down convert to SD) and you can always go back out through the VTR for output and monitoring.
The JH-3 has the DV25 down convert and support 1080p/23.976. Alternatively you could always make DVCAM down converts first and use a DV deck.

5.1 will remove the pulldown on the fly over the direct FireWire connection. 5.6 will do this but you need to do so over analog and have a Mojo. I would recommend you do anamorphic if you plan on doing an HD conform on an Avid system since all effects will line up pixel accurately.

Is the Quicktime 24fps instead of 23.976? That might explain the 10 frames difference – do the math and see if this is .1% of the original duration.
Try bringing in a video only QuickTime and see what happens.

There should no audio sync loss when going from 29.97 to 23.976. At worst you will ahve a +/-1 frame at any one point but this is not a cumulative error. It is the expected relationship between the two.
You could take a QUicktime in, or just make a WAV file and work from there.

MIchael here. Use Xpress Pro 5.1 or later. Use a Sony JH-3 with DV25 down convert and edit in native 23.976p. This is the same workflow I put together for Soderbergh on Bubble.

You should try a batch reimport gaphics instead of a new import. Highlight the original import and do batch reimport. Navigate to the new version. Import. It will replace the existing graphic in all seqeunces automatically.

Just copy the Avud Project folder that contains the project and bins and put in to the Avid Project folder on the PC. The same goes for the MediaFile folder and MediaFiles.
Just open the project and continue working.

Export should always be progressive thus the lack of controls for creating anything but…
Are you sure the original capture was done correctly? If not, you will end up with interlace frames since the progressive frames were not correctly built during capture.
Go to a motion part of the footage and export 5 consecutive TIFF frames. There should be no interlace artifacts. If so, there was a capture problem. Either the flags were missing or it was a dub from the original master that was not field accurate.

You can log a common sync point between the picture and sound using an AuxTC column, select all the clips, then use AutoSync. This would be easier in Avid than in QuickTime Pro.
