Depends on what production technique they are using on set when shooting. If there is a playback timecode being used and it is being recorded to the audio channels as LTC, then that is one way to sync. If no timecode is being used, then you might want to look into something like PluralEyes assuming that video also carries a reference track of the playback audio.

  • Would it be possible for you to send me a bin with the clips that are showing up as dupe? Or just the portion of the sequence in its own bin. I don’t need media.

    If possible, send to:

Use the AAF Edit Protocol in the AAF options pane and see if that solves the problem fro you.

  • Was this a file based workflow versus tape? I have been looking into what is causing it to trigger a dupe.

Mark IN and OUT around the offending area, activate track, then do a LIFT. It will leave black (silence). You can also look for the “Add Edit” button which is the equivalent of the Blade tool in FCP.

with NTSC Standard Def cameras, there will always be pulldown as there is no standard for 24 (23.976) video for that resolution.

In HD, you can have native 23.976p, 24p, 25p, 29.97p, 30p, 50p, 59.94p and 60p. These will be available to not in 720 and 1080 formats. And can have pulldown or not.

Camera manufactures have added pulldown formats in HD to allow the “film look while still editing at 1080i by providing the pulldown. For example, in Panasonic cameras the nomenclature is 24p for 24fps with pulldown versus 24pN for “native” as well as being 23.976 frame rate. 24 in this scenario is just shorthand for 23.976 and I suspect they had limited space in those menus.

I don’t believe those camera record with pulldown on the cards. They are all native rates –

It might be that the data rate is too high for those sections and choking a bit on playback…

It’s a Cine File. Check out the “software” section here:
    https://www.visionresearch.com/Service–Support/FAQs/

If on a PC, you can use their software to convert:
    https://www.visionresearch.com/Service–Support/Downloads/Software/

Or on a Mac, the above link references Glue Tools as the solution to create .mov files.

A LUT may need to be applied in either software. You might want to check whether DaVinci Resolve support this file and you can create .mov from there, apply a LUT as well as color correct.
