There are separate issues here that affect sync reliability. Some are MC related, and some are not:
- Timecode is not properly set or functioning on set and while each of the sources has timecode, they don’t have much to do with each other. Could be 1 frame to minutes off depending on the issue.
- Some cameras have a 1 frame offset with their own audio due to whatever internal processing is going on.
- 4. MC behavior in general. For sources that have no timecode, import will give it a 01:00:00:00 start while AMA linking will give the same file a 00:00:00:00 start (the correct one)
- 5. MC Bug as noted in later releases, I can AMA link to my same test files over the past 10 years and in recent versions, the timecode is incorrect with AMA link. Import is correct.

I believe I came across a similar issue in MC 2018.1 where linking to WAV files had the wrong timecode. I posted the issue on Avid Editors of Facebook in hopes Avid would see it as they do monitor that group more than others. It may be a bug that started in 8.10 but I did not do any similar tests to know for sure. Awaiting an Avid response…

If you transcode the linked sequence you won’t have to replace every edit. It just does the sequence as linked with whatever handles you feel you need for potential changes at any one point.
As far as needing to transcode, it depends on how much you feel you might need to rely on changing any of the RAW parameters. Or what I have done is transcode with a film LOG type color space. I can’t recall which ones at the moment. This gives you the full range of what was captured, then color correct from those log images.

The first problem I see is that one of the entries has the following timecode:
10:01:33:50And in a 25fps project, the frame of :50 will be a problem. I would make sure that Belle Nuit is set to proper frame rate for export.

Also, make sure the blue bar (playhead) is at the beginning of the sequence when importing. There was a time that caused issues with an import.

Was this Media Composer First or Media Composer? Did you do a mixdown first? Do you have access to other compression tools like Apple Compressor, Adobe Media Encoder, Sorenson, etc?

What is your latency between you stopping and playing and your client seeing the stop and start at the other end?

How do you plan on finishing? In Media Composer or via AAF to a third party system? For AMA sources, make sure the “Source File” column has the original file name in it, from there you can reconstruct as needed.

It’s hard to tell what it happening without actual sample files, but Media Composer resulting sync clip will only be the duration of the common span of the shortest clip. But even then, I would expect the .sync clip to be the duration of the video unless the audio clip ends 10 seconds earlier.
In the bottom row of the timeline there is an icon that looks like 2 screens and a timeline. Click that and it turns green indicating you are looking at whatever is loaded into the source monitor.
8.9.3 has Source Serttings slip sync now which allows you to slip sync even when in non-Film projects, but I find the the whole process slower, and the slip info does not conform in Pro Tools.
