Apple is changing the way “preview”works when playing back. In 10.9 it tries to transcode any non h.264 or ProRes file. Once of the reasons I am still on 10.8.5.

I was told by Avid that Amira “looks” are not supported as metadata once transcoded and should be baked in if you want to conserve them.

Are you baking it in when you transcode (legacy something or another setting)?
Also, 8.2 just released fixed a few things with Amira and LUTs in general when viewing in frame mode as they were not applied.

Also try sub-clipping the video clip to be V only beforehand just to see if that changes anything.

Very strange. What happens if you change the Audio setting for external to be track 1 to track 1 and see if anything changes.

What’s the DNxHD format being delivered data rate wise?

Were the MXF proxies created by the camera or by another system like the Codex or a dailies program like Resolve, MTI, Colorfront, etc? If the files are DNxHD 36, then they were not done in camera as it can only record 115 and 175 flavors.

You don’t say what platform and version of MC, but I have not heard of this particular issue with any version of MC as it pertains to AutoSync. Just to make sure, the setting should be as seen here to do what you want it to do:

You don’t AMA link MXF/DNxHD files from Resolve. Those are native Avid OPAton files. The MXF AMA plug-in is for OPAtom 1A files like those created by CanonC300, etc.
In Resolve:
1. Make sure there is REEL info in the mediapool for each clip. This is done via settings and “assit conform” If nothing else, use “filename.
2. Create timeline, correct if you want, then export our as MXF/DNxHD (codec rate or your choice)
3. Put these files into a numbered folder inside the Avid MediaFiles/MXF folder.
4. Launch Media Composer. It will index the mediafile folders and create the msm files as part of the process if none was there, or update an existing one.
5. In a bin, import the msm file and it will create the master clips.Michael
