for AutoSequnce: It will put in black spaces when the option key modifier is not used. This has a specific purpose for other workflows like post reel audio sync and now multicam sync maps where the time of day timecode needs to be preserved. Hold down the option/ALT key when selecting AutoSequence and it will jsut create a sequence with clips in source ascending timecode, but no gaps starting at 01:00:00:00 of whatever your sequence default start time is set to.
For Loop play, AMA should not make a difference other than many performance may be affecting its capabilities. I can give that a test the next time I am in from of a system.

Is there active audio on every track, or is it like XDCAM where you always have 8 tracks of audio recorded, but only two have any real production audio on them. That can be a performance hog as well, depending on speed and connection of drive to the system.

Make sure you are only monitoring the track on which the clip lives. If you monitor anything above that, the color correction will get applied to that clip or filler if that is what is active at that point in the timeline.

When you transcoded the first time, did you also transcode the audio or are they still pointing to the audio on the camera originals?

For all selected clips, go to hamburger menu in the bin and select loop clip play or something to that effect. It should play back in sort order. It also observes Marks, so remove any if you want the entire clip. Tab to next clip, shift-tab to go back one.
Or…
for all selected clips, hold down option key and autosequence. It will create a timeline in timecode ascending order. Play sequence, use JKL, go to next edit, etc for navigation.

Do you want a grouped clip or a grouped sequence?
For a sequence highlight all the clips from the same camera (angle). Select AutoSequence from the bin menu. This will create a timeline that places all shots as per time of day on the timeline leaving gaps when the camera was not recording. Repeat for each camera (angle). Edit sequence into a new timeline where V1 might be the A camera, V2, the B camera or however you want to organize it.
As a group clip, I have create a dummy clip I logged that encompasses the full range of all the clips I want to contain in a single group clip.
If you choose multigroup, it will create a single clip of multiple group clips.

Pat Horridge may have a better idea for London, but my guess will be that FCP7 and MC will be close, FCPx and Adobe following on. As far as between the latter, I have no idea.
Look for the editor, and not the system. If you found an editor who can tell your story, and work with you as a team and meets your price, then whatever they want to use is the one to go with.
