Just my opinion but …..as much as I believe in AJA and love their products I simply could not recommend purchasing a product that is not the best possible solution and that costs more money. Please read up on Convergent Design before your next purchase.

Have you tried exporting as a DV self contained .mov, and reimporting and then adding the speed change?

Not sure what this color red question means.
Convergent Design is a wonderful company that has many solutions for converting different format signals. For me it is a solid solution to stay completely digital transcoding to an all i-frame codec of my choice. AJA is also a wonderful company, but it is my opinion that staying completely digital is the best for keeping the quality of any signal.

My workflow is to shoot V1 to tape, then capture using the M25U deck using HDMI out and firewire out for timecode and deck control to the Convergent Design HD-Connect MI then out HD-SDI into the Kona LHe and capture as either Pro Rez or DVC Pro HD in 720p 60 (59:94). Also the RS-422 deck control is used from the MI and the firewire supplies the MI with DV basic control. The M25u can be set to output in 1080i, 720p or 4:3 SD all uncompressed and the CD MI can also force these same formats allowing you to cross convert.

You don’t need FCS2 to edit HDV 60i. I don’t think you understand that ALL SONY HDV units make 60i. Some like the V1 can shoot progressive but as I said it is lays to tape as 60i. I think you should shoot 24p if you don’t pan to much and the same for 30p. I really think you should test a little more and see what works for you.

I would say you should give Jerry a call over at AJA tech support and yes convert the RCA into the Kona. But if you are converting the HDV to another format then here is a suggestion to keep the audio and video together digitally. Depending on the deck/camera you have you might consider one more component from Convergent Design, if your deck/camera has the HDMI port then look into the Convergent Design Nano Connect or the HD-Connect MI into your Kona via HD-SDI,
or if you only have firewire and component then look into the HD-Connect SI that uses the firewire out converting into HD-SDI into the Kona. When you use the component out you are separating the audio & video and the video is converted from digital to analogue then back to digital and this is not a good solution.

Each of these solutions converts the 1440x1080i HDV into an uncompressed HD-SDI 1920x1080i 4:2:2 signal.
    Good Luck
