I have a dozen 16 gig Transcend SDHC class 6 cards and so does the production company I work mainly with and I would trust all 24 cards on any project. IMO there is no risk if you have properly tested each card and recorded to them a few times before use on a paid gig. If JVC can incorporate them into there XD Cam EX licensing thats good enough for me.
I one thing that will kill a card is removing it before the recording is finished, you Must wait until the red slot light turns green before removing it. I would bet that there is a small percentage of those with issues that have miss handled the card before it finished recording. The other thing is that it is well known that these SDHC cards need two attempts on initial formatting and some may dismiss them before they try a second attempt.
I’m sure the EX5 or 7 will up the bit rate to XD Cam HD 50 Mbps level before to long so we will be purchasing more SxS cards in the future. I will gladly purchase more when this happens.

Curt, I certainly haven’t read Many here saying this, in fact I posted the same advice you just did and I even upgraded my EX1 myself too. My biggest issue was finding a reliable PC to use. I only have Mac’s and I finally found a friend with a good PC and yes it was a strange process having to do it with two different files and not knowing with the first took or not.
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/142/863218I also spoke to Lou Schmidt (Hoodman owner) during NAB and he did say these SDHC cards he is selling are the MLC flash design that are much cheaper to produce and didn’t disclose the manufacturer. The CF cards he sells are the SLC design.

I like my OLD 415 mic. I use it together with a PSC 48PH – 12T converter and it sounds great.

I like using a monopod myself, the EX1 isn’t that heavy for me and I have shot long days with it. I also have the DV rig that sometimes gets pulled out of the bag.

Any plans on offering a PL mount to the lineup? I’m interested in using 16mm Zeiss lens with my EX3.

Smaller 4×4 and smaller Wood and Cello Kooks have been around for ever and creativity with black wrap is great.
However making up a black wrap Kook frame (6×6 on up) would really only work on a studio set and would be preposterous to attempt outside.
Oh and those multi (camping) tools, well IMO they are great for camping.

It is always a good idea to listen and obey the boss especially today.
Another thought is to remove the lens as this was when you caused the issue. Try booting up in Media mode to see if it comes back.

I would try removing the battery and using only the AC power supply.
Then r reset the camera to factory defaults. I believe it is in the Other sub menuGood Luck

HPX-3000? That is a nice camera, but before I spend those big dollars I would test out the Sony XD Cam 700 & 800 cameras.Good Luck

It doesn’t have interval frame recording yet but it is on the list of features they are currently working on. Convergent Design was had multiple firmware updates for the Flash XDR and they will continue to add more features to both of these recorders until the list is completed.
I look at these recorders as another tool to ensure the quality of what I’m shooting. If you can raise the bit rate from the limits of your camera you will have better quality. Going from 35 Mbps to 50 Mbps you will also record 4:2:2 color spacing and this alone will ensure a higher image quality.
The EX Series cameras together with the Nano Flash recorder are going to make extremely high quality video. I should be getting my unit very soon.
