I had an issue with the Boomerang Data Recovery software people, I had purchased it a few months before they decided to make the next version pay to play. Yes they changed it and then without saying they had changed it with their free upgrade, I had to pay more money for something that I thought was a program license I had already purchased. By downloading the free software the license changed to a pay per usage situation. After I contacted them they said I could go back to the original version but after 3 months went by and without ever using the program I received an email telling me I violated my license and it was revoked. I asked them to prove it and I never heard from them again. I wouldn’t ever do business with this company again. The original price was $200 and it never recovered any data when I deleted 4 clips last year from an SxS card.

I would mount the drive back on the camera and it should tell you it needs to restore the media, go ahead and restore and it should be fixed.

They are all from the same manufacturer, MxR was a partnership that split and one partner created MxM and one of these guys licensed the product to Hoodman. I have the original MxR and so far they have been solid.

You want to use the EX Cam Transfer program.
https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-software-model-PDZKP1.aspx“Timeline settings in FCP (In which I can playback my timeline using my decklink card)? ”
I don’t have the BM cards but all you need to do is use the Decklink setting that matches your monitor or deck. If you are editing 1080 set the Audio/Video settings to a decklink 1080 setting.“Export project settings for archival of each program?”
I use the Apple Pro Rez codec for most of my masters and archives.Good Luck

Beyond the items Craig mentioned is the remote control port to allow for shading and iris control by the DIT tent, and the ability to sync timecode between cameras. I love the viewfinder too. IMO it is worth every penny for the EX3. If it will be of use to you.

I think I opened the grip and reset the button. It wasn’t hard to do so if you are careful it should save you the time lost of taking it in for service.

I had the rubber cap become jammed and had to loosen the grip and I was able to reset it. If I remember correctly it rotated and it is definitely something you can fix.

July 10, 2009 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Letus Extreme with Sony EX1 multiplier question“One random question. Can you zoom with the EX-1 to change framing once you’ve focused on the GG image? I.e. to go from MCU to CU in an interview? I wasn’t considering that with a 35mm non-zoom lens we’d have to change lens to switch up the framing.”
Not with the EX lens as this must be locked off and this focus is critical as the lens is 75% zoomed out to begin with. But you could use a 35mm zoom in front of the Letus device, but it would be a manual zoom unless you rented a zoom motor/controller/base plate with support rods.
Anyone using this type of system should have a decent field monitor. I hate my EX1 viewfinder. I have a cheap IKAN 800HD.

July 8, 2009 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Desert reflector kit/lighting. Suggestions please! It sounds like you want 5 Grips and a nice 20×20 frame filled with 1/2 Soft Frost to blanket the sun. I would shoot with the sun back lighting the talent and I would add a 6×20 duviteen strip towards to front edge of the frame to reduce the top light, then use a nice big 12×12 Ultra Bounce from the side and a few 4×4 reflectors as back edge lights from the same side as the 12×12. Then drape a 12×12 T-bone on the unlit side for negative fill and keep lots of craft service going for those Grips.

I believe the issue is you haven’t waited for the recording to finish before starting another. We are all learning from each other about these SDHC solutions. I do know a friend had format issues and Craig Seeman and I had learned it sometimes takes a second try when formatting. Both Craig and I don’t format we do like you, just delete the clips. It would be good if you could try to record the full lenth of the card to make sure it still works properly and report back your findings. I haven’t purchased these 32 gig cards as yet but the Transcend is the only brand I would try in 32gig size.
These SDHC/MxR solutions work but they come with a learning curve.
BTW it would be good of you to add your info on this thread.
