Yes. They bite into that a bit. I monitored the sound and it didn’t evidence any distortion.
Monitor setting was in the middle…not at max. I usually record mono feeds with one down slightly to take care of any surprises.
What I noticed in setting up, however, was that even though I would turn one channel completely down on the unit, it didn’t go away. It seemed there is some agc at work here or I’ve got a setting wrong in the configuration.
Of course in previous shoots where I am feeding an image through SDI, sound is embedded and is controlled from the camera. In this case I was splitting the feed to the betacam (recording as a back up and the KiPro. -
Just at the place where the LED begins to go orange (-20?).

Actually in answer to my own question, maybe one of these ups units that are the footprint of a
surge protector/power strip would work.https://www.a1securitycameras.com/Minuteman-Para-Systems-EN400.html
I think in the field we’ll probably be working from batteries and have plenty of warning before they go down. But this is definitely a vulnerability to be worked. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could design a ups that is integral to the transformer, or the plug.

This was a quick response and really appreciated.
I’ve done a quick test with ShotPut Pro and it works. Looks like we’re back in business. -

It’s wonderful to see that our rants have had such a positive effect on such a responsive and esteemed company : > -
Maybe Sony will take care of the problem quicker than they’ve indicated. I’ve been a Sony user for much of my career. I’m surprised by the delay. This doesn’t follow the usual pattern.

>>Where can you see and hear it? On the Z1’s lcd?
YES
>>Do you have deck control over the FW cable?
YES
>>Under the Menu setings of the Z1 in VCR mode, Scroll down to IN/OUT REC (the 2 arrows) and ensure >>you’re in DV mode or auto for the VCR output. Check that the A/V-DV out is ON.
I tried it in “auto” and “DV”, and checked the other parameters. All was where it should be in the camera.
>>Failing that, try a different FW cable. If still no luck, try a different deck/camera if you can. I know >>that at least one of our Z1’s has a hookey FW out.
The cable and connector have been working fine up til now. I’m going to try my (or Nick’s) DSR-25 and see if that works. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try component in through an AJA unit to another computer.
Pretty weird. It’s supposed to work.
