July 12, 2017 at 11:18 pm in reply to: Copy and Pasting a Clip Removes Motion AttributesThank for the suggestion and yes that works but when you have 900 clips in a timeline it can get a little tedious. Plus the fact that you literally have to check every clip for motion attributes, there’s always that little resize you forgot about. ☹

Did you find a solution to this? I’m having the same issue right now. Trying to AAF an Avid Cut to PP and giving me the same error. Seems silly that you can’t just bypass this as PP found the video and audio that was used in the original cut. It just creates a huge amount of wasted time to get those few clips into PP.

Here it is 2017 and this problem still exists.
Is there no simple way to paint directly on a layer in a comp without having to open that single layer in a layer window so you can’t seen any of your other layers? I’m simply trying to paint over a handwritten name so I can reveal it through animation. I’ve tried the Pre-Comp method and then apply the paint effect to the pre-comp but AE just keeps crashing as I’m doing the actual painting. EPIC FAIL that this is still so complicated.

Thanks for the response.
I understand now that I need to create a dummy sequence with the settings to match what I want to transcode to and then choose ‘Match Source’ and make a preset from the dummy sequence. Seems a little convoluted? Should be able to transcode to any preset.
Regarding the copy vs transcode, no there is no warning or message indicating why. It just copies as if it was transcoding.

Thanks for the response David. I can’t even do an insert edit into an existing tape. I pre-blacked tape. I usually black from 58:00:00 to about 58:45:00 and then assemble edit in at 58:30:00 for the layoff. It’s worked fine before with Premiere but not it’s just not working at all. Oh I also dumped the Premiere preferences as well.

Actually it’s not doing what the menu item says “Add Frame Hold” ‘Frame Hold” not field hold. Premiere is doing a field hold in an interlaced sequence. This is a bug, professionals know how to deal with the ‘jitter’ because there is not always motion in an interlaced frame if it originated as 24 frame material. Feature request? This is a bug.

I’m seeing it in both places, computer and external broadcast monitor. It looks the same when paused as when playing no matter what setting, first, second or both. So it’s somehow throwing away the other field.

I tried that, doesn’t work. It looks worse than Flicker Removal. It just looks like one field being held with the other field missing so very jagged.

August 27, 2014 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Is it possible to step forward/backward by field? As an online editor sometimes I need to check for a flash field just before a cut and being able to step through the fields makes it easy to do that. Also I can check for reverse field issues. And if I need to pull a still frame from material that has a pulldown in it I can check for a frame that has the same field twice so I don’t get a frame with motion in the fields.
