    Peter,

How did the Intensity work our for you? Did you decide to connect component or HDMI? Do you work with 1080 30p? (Does the Intensity support 30p?)

When I import the file it plays BUT only after I render the sequence. I’v noticed if I click anywhere on the sequence window, the “Red” unrendered status comes back! (like it lost the render info file) I got tired of messing with it so I did a “Uncompressed 8-bit” Self Contained QT Export (After a Render) and then Imported it back into the sequence and so it no longer requires a render. Still, I’m curious about that codec they sent me.

    Thanks Rafael for your input.

Yes, I highly recommend that you Isolate 3 of the 4 drives as a Raid 5 or Raid 0 (0 is for higher speed but no redundancy)… while first reserving one of the four drives (Bay 1) as a dedicated system/apps drive. Did you get the Apple Raid Card? A controller card is much faster than a software raid. Also, when you break up the current raid, you will most likely loose your data.

Thanks for the heads up Craig… I just found some info about that MXO being used with an iMac. I’m beginning to understand this 1:1 pixel mapping business. I’ll just need the Mini DVI to DVI converter and One USB port to control the Matrox MXO. Any preference on DVI monitors? I’ve heard a lot of talk about a Dell 24″.

I’m taking baby steps here and would like to explore using my 24″ Intel iMac for a modest home based HD editor. Considering that I would have a G-raid (FW) type HDD, the only other hardware would be the HD Monitor. BTW, this iMac does have the Mini DVI out on the back… maybe I could monitor off that DVI port?

Found it on the menu… when I set it from EE to PB the screen goes black and I can’t monitor off my NTSC Monitor which is hooked up to the deck. Why do you think it is doing this now after all those years with basically the exact same setup?

Looking at BM’s support page, there is something about “Audio channels fail to activate or deactivate in Final Cut Pro”. (This is what I think it is doing.) SInce my deck is a 1400a and uses RS-232, the Audio Mapping option under Device Control Preset menu (Final Cut Pro) shows that option is grayed out.

This issue blows me away because I didn’t have this issue with the older setup (SP card and a G4).

I got the 16 channels turned of but the feedback loop is still an issue. Both audio in and out is directly connected to the deck. No mixer.

Budget is never my concern… it’s my Boss’s and Client’s. David you’re right… RAID 0 accross the three drives is probably the way to go. This Apple RAID CARD is odd to me… no cables. Does having all 4 drives working off that card cause issues? Is their a way to separate the system drive? Does that even matter? If it is a RAID card, why is it controlling (or should it be) the system drive?
