I’m going to try that on the read only system. Thanks for the idea!

doesn’t that export take a long time?

The spaces is a pain, yes, since it is only HDV, but the biggest problem is the time.

Is there such thing as a firewire to SDI box so you could take it into the m100 realtime? And what is the compression rate of “Draft”? (Better than HDV?!?)

At a certain point we’ll get multiple HD resolutions, so the space issue will go away. and eventually HDV support…

I finally just tried editing the stuff together in FCP, but I don’t know how to work that program… Even that tell’s me that the footage I took in with it is “unrendered” or it plays in a small box.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing… It is a little tedious when closing down a whole bunch of bins though…

It would be nice if there were some setting that could disable the warnings or something.

Yeah… all the boxes are checked but it doesn’t seem to *always* do it. ?? go figure ??

  • Sounds like you might have the deck frequency set to the wrong framerate. You an set the deck to 29.97, 24f, etc depending on what your footage was shot at.

This isn’t just a menu setting, this is the frequency of the entire deck. It should require a power-down and up again.

…or, at least, that’s my guess based on what you’re describing.

Any ideas? The conform media works great when going from SD to HD…

But if I’m starting with the HD SD 4×3 w/ pillar boxes, how can I do the best quality push in? Is boris the only way? I wish I had “conform” media available here.

  • 9 times out of 10 a rendered speed effect renders the wrong section of the speed up… and sometimes even displays frozen frames for a moment or two.

    Any idea why that happens?

I don’t think there is a fix… It is just a really annoying bug. 🙁
