Charles,
I have been seeing this for a few versions with no particular regularity or apparent cause. I think it is just an annoying interface bug, what Firesign Theater used to call a hullabolution. Scrolling the CTI through it seems to make it go away until the screen redraws.

Hi all,
For months I had similar problems to the ones Steve reports. With Clip Browser primarily, imports would crash or at least fail the Media 100 system in that maddening and unrepeatable way we all love so well. The failure would sometimes be a crash with the same error numbers Steve reports, and sometimes the import would fail with a message to the effect that the operation couldn’t be completed because the file was locked. This happened on 2 systems, all the most current everything. The problem was consistent enough to be crazy-making, but not enough to be predictable, and it defied all troubleshooting and repair efforts for months. Everyone was stumped, and it was seriously impeding my workflow.
The I saw something in a forum somewhere with a similar sounding problem, and the solution on offer was to log out, log back in as root, do the same thing in the same applications that previously caused the crash, log out as root and log back in as usual. It seemed pretty non-invasive, so I tried it. No crashes since and all imports have gone flawlessly, as they had before the problem started for me. On both systems.
I’m sure that somewhere there is a technical explanation for why this worked for my situation and, of course, your mileage may vary, but it might be worth a try.
FWIW, and good luck,

Wick,
I had been plagued with the same problem for a long time, a crash on export from the edit suite, got real good at all workarounds and had almost forgotten about the issue until this succinct batch o fixes. Many thanks, as it prompted me to prune the QuickTime folder, trash prefs (again) and restart (again and again). Problem solved and full functionality returned.
Many thanks!!!!

Floh,
As always, thanks!
I’m using AE CS4, AJA 7.0 NDD driver, OS X 10.5.8. Firewire out works fine, but since the install of M100, no AJA out, just black screen from AE.
Is a re-install of AJA driver worth going through? Thanks,
Michael

I’m having the problem of not being able to choose Media100 OUT for After Effects, but I also find that, since upgrading to Suite 1.1 and AJA driver 7, I can’t choose AJA out either.
I have a feeling that when the one aspect is fixed, the other will be as well, so my question is: can we hope for a fix soon? Wick? Thanks,
Michael

PS: Forgot to ask a perhaps dumb question, which version of the 6.5 driver, regular or NDD?
Thanks again,
Michael

Thanks for your message. I would have gone nuts….
I just installed 1.01 onto my MacPro, 10.5.8, with a Kona 3 and the software didn’t see the board. I shut down, waited, restarted, shut down again, made the usual sacrifices to the usual suspects, restarted again, and still nothing. Did an uninstall of M100, reinstalled v 1.0 and all is well again. A bit scary as a client edit is happening in less than an hour. I’m quite relieved.
Looking forward to hearing when all is clear,
Michael

Peter,
I use VoltaicHD from ShedWorx (https://shedworx.com/node/107), but you can drill down into the AVC folder structure and find the video files and use MPEGStreamclip.
Hope this helps,
all the best,Michael
