The Quadro 4000 works fine in the 12-cores. We bought a 12-core a couple of weeks ago and picked up the Quadro 4000 from B&H. Popped the ATI card out (burned me up that we had to pay for the stupid thing since Apple won’t sell you the nVidia card BTO), put in the nVidia card, booted, installed the nVidia CUDA drivers and it’s been running ever since. No issues so far and Premiere screams on it.
Will it work in Mountain Lion? Who knows. But if your apps work fine in Lion you can just not upgrade, at least for a while.

Select all the clips in the bin, hit the Remove In/Out shortcut on your keyboard. You used to have to be in script view or another view (not basic – was it Text view?), but that might have changed in v6.x

They probably AMA’d some footage in and transcoded it, or consolidated it, linking the consolidated media to the new masterclips. Avid automatically adds .old to the originals so you know which ones they were. The .old can be deleted.

What kind of drives are you using for media? If they’re network drives, open Avid, open the console (Cmd+6 on a Mac, Ctrl+6 on a PC), and type “alldrives” without the quotation marks and hit Enter.
Also, before you launch Avid, go into the numbered folder they gave you and delete the msmFMID.pmr and MSMMMOB.mdb files. Launch Avid and it will rescan.
Note the spelling and capitalization of the folder structure – it matters.
Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1/media
If you have a space between Media and Files, Avid won’t see it. It’s very, very strict.
If you don’t think they gave you the right bin and you need all the masterclips of the media they gave you, drag the msmMMOB.mdb folder into a bin and it will populate it with all the masterclips of that media folder. Super awesome tip I got from Shane Ross’ blog.

Do you have media drives with Avid media already on them? If you do, just open the Avid MediaFiles/MXF/ folder on that drive and copy the numbered folder they gave you into the MXF folder on your media drive. You can rename the numbered folder to another number if you want (if it’s numbered 1 and you already have an Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1 folder just rename the 1 folder the other company gave you to 2).
If you don’t already have an Avid MediaFiles/MXF/ folder structure on your media drive just copy theirs to your drive, so you will have Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1. Open Avid, it will scan the drive, open the bin they gave you – your media should be online.
All Avid media is organized this way. AMA can reference files where they sit on a hard drive, but only certain files are AMA’able. Quicktime, Red, XDCam, P2, and some others. MXF from another Avid always goes in a numbered folder in Avid MediaFiles/MXF/[NUMBERED FOLDER/.mxf media.
Let us know if it doesn’t work, but it definitely should.

Pan and Zoom changed between 5.x and 6. It won’t carry backwards (I don’t think it carries forwards anymore either – you have reload each picture, I think). Otherwise, you should be fine.

Glad to help. Works the same on Avid, but it’s a feature you can turn off there. I didn’t find the preference in Premiere so I just tried it one day and it worked.

Use your keyboard shortcut for insert or overwrite edit. Make sure you have record side tracks selected.

I’ve been running Symphony 6 on the 2008 2.8Ghz for the last couple of weeks – put a couple of projects through, had no issues with it. Loving the source side color correction, and it works flawlessly with our Decklink HD Extreme card.
