So in After Effects (on a Mac) it’s just command+/ and anything selected in the bin gets plopped into the timeline starting at the playhead. Is there no similarly easy way to do this in Premiere? I’ve scrounged all the shortcut key options and the Internet (and CC forums ‘natch!) and either no one but me needs to do this or it’s so obvious to everyone that no one’s bothered to post about it 🙂

My wrist and fingers start aching from mouse use and any time I can do something with a keyboard I do it–particularly if the task I’m shortcutting around involves clicking+dragging.

    Thanks!

Use your keyboard shortcut for insert or overwrite edit. Make sure you have record side tracks selected.

Sweet! I don’t think I ever would have found that on my own :). Thanks man!

Glad to help. Works the same on Avid, but it’s a feature you can turn off there. I didn’t find the preference in Premiere so I just tried it one day and it worked.
