If the audio is in the primary storyline, then your other clips are connected clips. If you want them to maintain sync with each other you’ll need to select them all and make them a secondary storyline. Then you can trim one and the rest with roll with your trim.

No Synology NAS here to worry about, but I did find a show stopping bug for my system.
I make extensive use of X-Keys and the Logitech G13, programmed through Controllermate. Well, Sierra and Controllermate do not get along. Even the most updated version of Controllermate has major issues. Mouse movements aren’t correct, mouse clicks don’t register, half of the keyboard building blocks won’t activate.
I have a client session to get through Monday, then Tuesday I’m wiping my system again and rolling back to El Capitan. If anyone is thinking of upgrading to Sierra and they rely on Controllermate, I highly recommend you wait.

Thanks Oliver. I don’t have a reason to move to Sierra, but like you said – might as well if it’s solid. I don’t have a lot of plugins that I use on a regular basis, so I don’t think I’ll need to worry about that.
I’ll give Sierra a shot. If it gives me trouble I can always roll back. I keep thumb drives with every OS on them, just in case!

Not bad at all! My FCPX crashed 4 times yesterday (quit straight to the desktop). Thankfully I didn’t lose any work either, which is great. Every NLE needs to figure out how Apple does their instant saving and implement it.
Are you running FCPX with external video I/O (Blackmagic or AJA)? All of my crashed seem related to my Blackmagic box.

Provided the selected clips all have the same role assigned, and that the non-selected clips don’t have the same role assigned. Otherwise you’ll end up muting a bunch of clips you don’t intend to mute.
If I want to remove all audio channels from a clip I just match frame, Shift+2 (Video Only), then Replace from Start to quickly recut the clip back in without audio. If I need the audio back I just match frame, Shift+1, Replace from Start. Pretty fast, and all keyboard driven.

No.

Yes. Select your range, Cmd+C, then either Cmd+V to paste it into the primary at the skimmer position or Option+V to paste it as a connected clip. Limitation – you can only range select one clip. So you can’t range select half of a clip in the primary and two connected clips and copy/paste those. You have to select the entire clip in the primary and two connected clips. I understand what you want to do if you’re in a track based system, and it can’t be replicated in FCPX.

I don’t think so. Match frame and replace from start from the browser. Sorry.

No. You can move up and down an entire clip selection, but not a range.

Cut and paste it. I don’t think you can cut/paste backtimed though.

Click the timeline where the skimmer is and the playhead moves to it. Is that what you’re wanting?

Not directly. If you just pasted/inserted it into the primary just go back one frame and hit C to select it. If you pasted/inserted it as a connected clip, map your keyboard to ‘Extend selection up” or “Extend selection down”, then insert/paste it, step back one frame, hit C, then use your new “Extend selection up/down” to select it. Or hover the mouse over it and hit C – it will select whatever your mouse pointer is on.

2SL? Do you mean roll two connected clips or something? No – you can only roll one clip at a time. Trimming in FCPX is pretty abysmal in this regard.
I may be wrong on some of these, but I don’t think I am.

You’re not missing anything. You can’t export an mo4 with only some roles. It’s all or nothing. You have to export to something like Prores first then recompress that.

Or Apple could add out-of-sync indicators. I know I’d prefer they do that than have to do silly workarounds.
