Check the clip attributes. Resolve probably hasn’t correctly guessed the aspect ratio.
DV is such an awful old codec with interlacing and other issues. Aspect is one of them. You might have to manually tweak the aspect. Once you do one you can copy and paste those via paste attributes to multiple clips

No I’m stating his needs are simple as he has so often told us. To be fair I’m talking to people other than Bill who use a range of software on various hardware. Forgive me reminding Bill that this forum is for all of us users, not just a single FCPX user on an NLE debate forum. The wandering of thread topic was not started by me but having driven it off course I feel every right to respond to any attempt to narrow the debate. If you only want to debate FCPX versus FCPX on an iMac, then go right ahead and have your own thread about it. If it wanders off course I might chip in.

Given your simple needs and total satisfaction with FCPX, I guess you don’t need or get a choice or even know what bang for buck is out in the real world. So my comments are doubtless lost on you but relevant to others.

It really is no contest. The amount of time I need to invest in researching and building a PC is so small compared to the cost and time saving over the years of usage.
It really boils down to not wanting to bother but you can’t seriously argue it is about the value of your time. Especially when you argue so often for the sheer time saving you get from particular software. To then slow that down with hardware and pay more for that inefficiency, it’s just as well you find the software fast. It is possible to have both but we can always find self justification for not wanting to do something. In this case personal time and cost saving isn’t really true. Nothing wrong with just saying you don’t want to do it.

Or you could output the jpeg2000 directly from your timeline and supply that to the DCP house. I’ve never had issues with correct color space conversion that way. In version 14 software you can set the data rate for the jpeg2000.
I tend to avoid Quicktime based 4444 codecs as there seems to be a gamma identification issue with Quicktime ProRes 4444.

Yes. Make sure the positioning information is whole pixel so check that there are no decimals in the X & Y screen position values.

In a few years we will look back and laugh at why we thought 30TB SSD was overkill, until we look at the current price. When this is cheap we will all need it. Meanwhile, Bob’s right. SATA RAID is fine.

All the more reason why having to buy a new case, screen, keyboard etc is silly when the most likely thing that needs to adhere to the old 18months churn is the GPU.

Resolve will run on a laptop but your computer spec depends more on what real time performance with the codecs and pixel aspects you need to work at. Personally I prefer 32 gig of RAM and an onboard RAID that can handle the speeds I need. I also have USB-c/ Thunderbolt 3 on my mobo.

Or use file renaming software to add text at the end so it doesn’t look like a numbered sequence
