I remember FCP legend used to default to DV codec when you selected firewire. I didn’t know the AJA could do Unc over firewire. Maybe FCP changed it to DV.
Either way it’s easy to find out. Just get info on the soft files or check the codec in FCP

If you are capturing via firewire it is probably being converted to DV codec which is rubbish.

Stills are tricky. I tend to pre import footage and not rely on import via the xml. With stills, I often find I have to set Resolve to individual frames as people tend to number stills and they import as an image sequence.
If I get asked before edit starts I ask that stills are not named and numbered in ways that make them look like an image sequence.

Are you using a plugin to create the moves or just keyframing scale information? If a plugin, I doubt it will come across in an xml. If scaling then it will come across but I have found with these sorts of moves it depends on how the system defines the scale – absolute or relative. I know Legend and Pr tend to do absolute scaling on stills images, although Pr gives the option to prescale and then the moves are relative to that. Resolve pre scales and then the keyframe values are relative to that so unless X does the pre scale then relative values it won’t track correctly.

Resolve has moved a long way from a compatible Snow Leopard version. You would be better off with a dual boot partition and a more up to date OS to run Resolve. If you need to stay snow leopard for FCP7 (which is a good idea), then I wouldn’t consider running Resolve on your hardware & software.

Resolve has project/timeline settings which can be different to the display settings. The feed via the Decklink card is adjustable in the system settings.
Perhaps what you are outputting doesn’t match the timeline/project. The default is usually something like 1080 24fps psf. You monitor probably doesn’t like this default. Change the settings to match and save these settings as presets so you can apply them when you start a new project.

Thanks Oliver. OK it’s starting to shape up. All this talk of a phone but it seems like the phone part is a byproduct of it being connected to a network to view content in 4V. It’s more like a specialist viewfinder that you can also use as a phone. Clever idea.
No doubt it is a camera too but it seems like at this stage there is a separate 8k V180 camera that RED have developed to capture the content. I’m sure it won’t be long before the phone/ viewfinder is the 3D camera too.
Also important is the whole distribution angle of content.

I am certainly interested in where RED are going with this product. It might be a while before we get a product launch down here at the bottom of the world and I can see what a 4V screen actually is.

Yes indeed. I reversion most projects and in Resolve I had to swap between projects or swap timelines to copy paste between. It is clumsy and I am so glad Resolve 15 has put in both tabbed timelines and pancaking so I can far better compare and grab between both timelines and projects. I agree with Simon that this is a better way to work and it is not the same as the way X or the previous version of Resolve works.
