Yes I believe that is correct Ricardo. I was hoping to see Win PC ProRes export in Resolve 15 the same as Fusion. Blackmagic are in Apple’s hands with this however.

Given the number of cameras that shoot Mac formatted cards and ProRes and the common source of media from editors working on Macs, it makes sense to have Mac Drive software on a PC so that you can read/ write to HFS+ drives. I never relying on editors to understand drive formating going from Mac to Win and they don’t have to. Mac Drive software is so cheap compared to the endless to and fro of trying to get people to work with exfat.

DCP’s use JPEG2000 wrapped in an mxf. You should be able to read that directly in Resolve and make any other files from it. The audio will be separate but if you just read your DCP file it should have the two mxf’s so you can open them in Resolve. Given the price of hard drives and the fact that DCPs typically are about the same file size as a ProRes or DNx220, you should be able to fit your short film DCP on a thumb drive.
I don’t understand why you think you can’t afford to store it?

Dual boot. Keep an old OS like Snow Leopard for FCP 7 and a more up to date OS for other apps. You can partition the two OS’s or have two drives.

Resolve 14 is available to buy and then you use the same dongle or license to run 15. Blackmagic do not charge for upgrades. I’m still using my dongle from version 10.

In the PAL world they engineered colour properly so there was no need to do the NTSC shortcut. Old B&W TVs still worked when PAL went colour (spelling intentional). And it was really a shortcut. If they had thought through the ramifications of altering the real time relationship the ongoing issues we all suffered of dual timecode formats and sync drift could have been avoided.
My father designed microwave links including broadcast TV links in the 60s and 70s. I’ll take his word that it was a shortcut solution and poor engineering decision.

Gesture editing like in the movies. Sounds funky but in practice I bet it’s an ergonomic nightmare. Like the ‘futuristic’ beeping touch screens in Star Trek, the imagined is annoying and unproductive in real life. I haven’t played with the Surface Pro and that wheel but I can see that with the right software it could be a good combo.
Personally I hate touch screens without using a stylus. Even on my 8″ Android tablet, the stylus is so much better than fat fingers. There is always going to be an inherent problem when the input surface is also the screen as the input actions partially cover the screen.

My card only has one HDMI out so no. I use SDI to HDMI converters. That way I can use my patchbays and cabling between computers in the machine room. Much simpler than having to patch HDMI and run 15 metre cables

Many Decklink cards have dual SDI output. So yes you can have dual outputs to a broadcast monitor. I have the 4K Extreme which is PCI and can do this.
