I’ve not heard of any of those problems you are having. 16 has been very stable for me all through the beta phase.

BRAW has developed quickly since 15 so maybe that version was having difficulty recognising the BRAW files if it was shot with the latest camera upgrade.

You can also split and grade. This is like using static keyframes. You can also dissolve between the splits with the separate grades. This is like using dynamic keyframes. Use whatever technique works best.

And the result will have serious implications for Blackmagic as well. I suspect they have designed their compressed RAW around the RED patents with the sidecar data and pre processing so they might be better placed than Apple with ProResRAW.

Check keyframes on the color page. You can use static or dynamic keyframes to cut or ramp grade parameters.

Renaming clips at the file level is an absolute no no once editing has started. If you wish to rename there are plenty of batch renamers out there but once you start to edit, do not change file names.

Given the competing nature of BRAW and ProResRAW, I don’t expect Apple or BM to want to support each others codec. It would be nice for the user to have both companies just shake hands and each support the others codec so NLE choice is based entirely on the editors preference.
The history of Apple’s attitude makes me think such an obvious solution will not happen. Over time I also expect BM to be less likely to court Apple’s favour so don’t hold your breath.

Is that all of their FX & plugins? I’m not up on what they offer.
Do we read anything into that decision like them no longer developing plugins, or no longer doing FCPX stuff?

It looks like an interesting program and probably perfect for a lot of applications. However it is a typical layer system not nodal, so it is like Ps & Affinity.
Personally I am doing some photo manipulation right inside Resolve. I was surprised to discover it read Nikon still raw files straight off camera recently. Otherwise I use Affinity which can open Ps files and re-save them in that format. I haven’t tested other RAW stills formats like Canon or Sony yet but if they can read like Nikon, then I’ll do the work directly in Resolve as I’m really only manipulating images in video timelines.
