Running multiple applications on one computer, particularly ones that use dongles, is a recipe for disaster. Integrated apps like the FCStudio suite are ok because they are designed to integrate.

I suggest taking the shots you want to extract stills from and dropping it into a new sequence that is set to HDTV Uncompressed 10 bit 422 (50i or 60i depending on your source footage)
You will see a render bar but I don’t think you need render anything as you are just extracting a still frame. As the sequence setting is for 1920 x 1080, you should be able to extract your still frame in the correct aspect ratio.
Make sure in your export settings that the pixel aspect is 1920 x 1080.

Were the files imported in 5.1.4 or in 6? I am wondering if the field label error happened in converting or Media Managing your project file to 6.

I haven’t tried Compressor to make a transport stream but I have used it for mpeg encoding for DVD. Compared to a high qual hardware convert, I would be surprised if it would look better than say an external Tandberg encoder and the killer is render time.
Real time hardware encoding is bliss but expensive.

Perhaps using a smart deinterlace (like the Nattress filters) on the 1080i sequence first before dropping into a 720p sequence might help.
Are you making the transport stream using a software convert? I have an external encoder with HD SDI so using the Kona to convert on the fly would be applicable, (although I have the Decklink HD Pro in my case).

I have keyed HDV after it has been captured as uncompressed 10 bt 422 via a Canon XL H1 SDI output. I would expect a better key doing this than trying with a DV file.
Lighting of the screen is critical. And the wise ones here all say that keying in Shake or After Effects is much better than FCP.

I have the Decklink HD Pro card and capture/edit to tape HD SDI from any of the HDCam decks 500, 2000, 1800 without problem. There are many Kona and Decklink cards. All you need for HDCam is a card with HD SDI in and RS422 control, so I would be looking at the other features of the various cards to determine the best price & features. I don’t need analogue in for example but need component monitoring out.
Most important is a fast and big external RAID. I am using a 4TB sata RAID with dual fibre. This works fine for uncompressed 50i & 60i.

Most DVD players are universal. They are then crippled by software to limit playback of zones and formats. Because commercial DVDs are released first in NTSC, many of us in the PAL world make sure our players are unlocked to play NTSC and ignore zones. A quick search on the net should reveal how to mod your player for this. Often it is holding a combination of keys on the front panel when powering up. Also most modern monitors are capable of auto selecting format by detecting the input format and therefore will play PAL or NTSC.
I have been told that in the US there can be problems playing PAL DVDs on auto switching monitors because of line frequency causing a pulsing or flicker problem. Many DVD players can convert internally, therefore playing a PAL disk out as NTSC.
Without a doubt the best way to deal with this issue is to finish the program in its native codec (PAL DV). This will require converting the NTSC elements to PAL. Take the finished master tape to a facility with a decent converter and make an NTSC digi beta master. Use this to make your DVD.
Is this a commercial DVD you are authoring & distributing or just a view copy?

I used cobalt cable from the mac into the studio (12 metre cable). The Gefen DVI repeater went on the end of this cable then the 23″ Cinema display plugged into the DVI repeater.
When I put the DVI repeater at the mac end, then the cable into the studio, there were dropped pixels and noise in the blacks. Try putting the extender at the end of the cable.
