Thanks, Mark! I give most of the credit to the producer, Saul Gonzalez. Truly a great reporter and producer. One of my favorite people to work with. He cares about good camerawork, sound, and story. How much more could an editor ask for?

This is a short doc about the record store scene in LA.
https://vimeo.com/35334800This was cut in 7 by another editor. I used 7toX and brought it into X to color correct. Also did the 4×3 center crop in X, using some custom settings. Then sent it back to 7 to place back in GFX and present back to client… all in 3 hours. It was a crazy day.

Have you played the footage out full-screen or to a monitor? Sometimes footage can appear moire’d when it’s minimized in the viewer window.
If I were in FCP7 I’d try the anti-alias filter. If it’s just one clip and you have 7, try it and see. You can try a slight blur. But if the moire is baked in to the image it will be hard to remove.

I’ve experienced longer compress times when sending from FCP to compressor, but not this long. Is the project rendered? If you are encountering these kinds of delays and need a quicker fix, export your timeline to a QT file and bring it into compressor that way. Should hopefully take a lot less time. If it doesn’t, then looks like there could be other issues, perhaps with compressor’s pref files, etc…

Ricky, are you on a dual-monitor system? If so, I’ve mentioned here that I’ve been having some problems with the inspector in that situation. My fix is to set the windows to go back to single screen and then back to two. Also sometimes hitting cmd-1, cmd-2, and then back to cmd-1 jogs it back.
Let’s hope the next update fixes these problems. Seems like other are having inspector issues, as well.

Agreed. That is my biggest gripe about it.
Crazy idea for a workaround. But it might work. What if you just stacked a ton of these multicam clips in a single project? It might get too wieldy. But again, I’m using the term “workaround” here. 😉 Also, the timeline is searchable, so it would be easy to find your question.
And then you could always just log your multicam clips in the library with keywords and log notes, markers, and such. Don’t worry about pre-cutting the questions. Just do them as you’re editing.

I can confirm that selecting a multi-cam clip in a compound clip created in the event library will not allow you to see or change any audio or video traits in the infopane. However, I was able to see the Multi-Angle Viewer in the compound clip.
Agreed that having 100+ multicam timelines in the project window would be hard to manage. But it might be your only choice. I use folders a lot in the project window to try to organize. But the project window is a bit awkward IMHO.
