OK, I can adjust the brightness in the Program View by using the Levels effect on the clip in the time-line. But the Source View is still dark.
And I still don’t understand why this is only happening with the clips I have captured to the external hard drive, and this darkness effect does not appear in the clips I have captured to my internal drives (of which I have a mere 135G). In those clips the luminance on all my Premier Pro monitors is the same as the luminance on the camcorder screen.

I guess I didn’t understand the import of your comment, Mike.

My objective is for the captured clips to have the same luminance as the image on the source tape. Right now, this does not appear to be the case. The source tape looks quite bright, but the captured clips come through as dark and “murky”.

“Reformat” done. I don’t have any footage to capture at the moment. Next shoot is on Jan 4th. I will let you know how this turns out. Thanks again.

The dialog box for “Format” will not let me do that. For “File System” it gives “NTFS” and does not allow a change.

Yes. Western Digital 500G external hard drive, fire wire connection.

I guess you can tell that I am a novice with Premier Pro. I consider myself lucky to have anything out there at all. I started knowing nothing, and worked my way through with the Total Training DVDs.

So, recognizing that I am very new to all this, some overall editing suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks, Mike. That seems to have worked. It’s now 52MB, and on my cable connection it downloads in less than a minute.

What is an “mms server”?

Hey Steven, that worked just fine.

My ISP has to upgrade my account to accommodate this big file, and it will take them 24-48 hours to do that.

So, I should be able to upload the new material in that time frame.
